bansheeryder_69 Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 alright so my bro's banshee has been sitting with the carbs off of it for like 5-6 months. He is obsessed with a damn computer game and never cares to work on it or anything. So today i bought the parts to fix it (needles and seats) and installed them. His banshee has aftermarket mikuni i believe 33mm carbs. So I install the parts and then put them back on the bike. Starts ater like 30 kicks (cold weather) and raps out to the MOON, like just rails, so i shut it off and check everything then start it again and it does the same thing. so any suggestions on what it could be? Would an airleak cause that to happen? if i reversed the carbs (left on right right on left) would that happen? floats seem fine and the cable is not stuck open. i need some help any is apppreciated. thanks. bansheefreak Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 take the filter off and look in there see if the slides are open.. if so you might have got the slides crossed or the cable might be in a bnd and pulling slides open... if it was an airleak i would think it would take a sec then rev up... sounds like it revving to the moon so you prolly wouldnt have time to spray carb cleaner around carb see if it bogs down but if you can try that it will tell you if you have an air leak.. Washburn Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 The problems you already mentioned could defiatly be it. Make sure to turn your idle screws out 1/14 and turn out in quarter turn incriments from there. Your reeds could be stuck open. The same exact thing happened to mine last week and I cleaned the carbs and bumped the main up 2 sizes to compensate for the cold weather and that did the trick. 1.Mess with your idle screws 2.Check for air leaks. Start it up and spray carb cleaner around where air could leak. I dont recomend doing this if its already reving. 3.Take your carbs off clean them Jets real good with carb cleaner make sure the slides and bowls are on the rite carbs 4.Take your reeds out (its only 8 allen head bolts) to check out if they are in working order Rejet if nessacary Quote
sheefreak Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 When you look at the slides, check to make sure they are ALL the way down. W/no load the bike will rev to the moon if slides are even slightly stuck open. An air leak would do this, but it would have to be a pretty bad one. If you only took off the carbs make your intakes are not leaking, and carb tops are tight. Quote

fastbanshee8 Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 Make sure your throttle cable ends are firmly seated in the adjusters, on the tops of the carbs. I've had my throttle cable ends get pulled out, when removing and reinstalling the carbs, and that will make it rev like hell, even if it's just on one side. Quote
