bentvalve Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 well finally found some ported cylinders with pistons for $318 shipped. suppossed to be fresh with the second bore. now with the mods i have now- 2 into 1 intake ,v force 3 reeds, 4 deg adv. timing, noss head w/21 domes. also have 13 front and 41 rear sprockets. does this sound like i need to stop here so it will be a good trail,mx bike.. do the banshee gods think i need something else?? maybe a crank, this is the question. im not sure how much the stock crank will take but im sure there are limits..from the looks of things the motor has been split before i got it.not sure about what was done.. i know i installed the billet water pump, and a billet case saver from mod quad. so if there are any banshee owners out there with something similar please let me in( im not to partial to the 2 into 1 intake yet.so i will prob ditch that in favor of some 35pwks. thanks for any suggestions don russell Quote
theshee Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 Is it piped?? if you have the stock pipes on thats next! Throw a set of CPIs on that sucker or Toomey T-5s. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 i wouldnt go CPI for a trail mx bike... get some T-5's... what kind of porting do those jugs have? you wouldbe very smart to splt the cases and have your crank welded... your adding power by getting portwork and that stock crank has a bad name for coming apart... trex banshee Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 can you get some pics of the porting? Are you sure it is even for trail riding? Everything else sounds to be good, except for the carbs you want, now they may work but 35's are for of a top end motor. Quote
theshee Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 Oh shit sorry, I didnt see that MX-trail deal in there. Yeah go T-5s. Quote
bentvalve Posted January 29, 2007 Author Report Posted January 29, 2007 (edited) yeah i guess i do have the fmf fatty gold pipes.. trex- so would like a 34pwk be better.. and as far as the pics of the port work i will have the cylinders here in a few days, i will post up some pics.. i figured i got a decent deal. if not i will pass them on to someone that can use them and i will send mine out for port work.. oh yeah do you guys have a rough idea about how mean this will be? don Edited January 29, 2007 by bentvalve Quote
Bansh-eman Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 (edited) if your doing trail and mx id go with 39-33 carbs not 35's sorry thats 30-33 not 39 Edited January 29, 2007 by Bansh-eman Quote
bentvalve Posted January 29, 2007 Author Report Posted January 29, 2007 so what does it cost to have these cranks welded? is it worth it or just get another, and what brand? don Quote
theshee Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 Even if you get another one you will want it welded. I used to have a pic of a welded one, I will look for it so you can see it. Quote
yamaha04 Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 Even if you get another one you will want it welded. I used to have a pic of a welded one, I will look for it so you can see it. heres a pic of a welded crank bigred posted up for me when i had some questions about crank welding http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...hl=welded+crank check it out 3 posts down pretty good pic and answer alot of questions for me Quote
theshee Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 Thanks yamaha04... those are the pics I was looking for. that was my crank he welded for me before we decided not to use it. Thanks for finding that! Quote
bentvalve Posted January 29, 2007 Author Report Posted January 29, 2007 why did you not use it? thanks for the pics..i thought there was alot more involved to that that too..what did you do with the crank? don Quote
theshee Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 It wont work because its not straight anymore, or out of true if my terms are correct? It has brand new outside bearings on it I could take off but as far as the crank goes its shot. Thats why I decided to build a 4mil 421 cub  Quote
bentvalve Posted January 29, 2007 Author Report Posted January 29, 2007 oh ok..don now im looking for a welded crank(stock or stroker) i hope this does not turn out to be like my turbo mustang... don Quote
