KingSpade Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 (edited) ok now i have never had to seek help on a jeeting issue (if that is what this is) but i put dmc 916's, a dynojet stage 3 kit and tors removal on yesterday. all the power and snap is there but late in 3rd i pop. i have a k&n filter on without the lid. my mains are 280's needle is on 4th groove with stock pilots. it seems to be smoking more than it should in my opinion. i havnt checked the plugs yet since they were the ones that were in it when i bought it so i will start with new plugs and go from there. carbs are synched. anything i should consider or look at when i take it out tomorrow? i did buy an airbox lid and i am going to cal dmc tomorrow and ask them if i need the lid with the k&n. another concern is how much air it is sucking, you can hear it plain as day, maybe sucking too much air?? let me know what you guys think. thanx in advance! HotCarl Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 do you have the adapter plate for the air filter? (because you removed the lid) It is normal to hear the carbs suck when you remove the lid or run open filters. Quote

HotCarl Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 a lean condition can cause a pop, so change the plugs and do a plug chop. What is you temp and elevation? Quote
KingSpade Posted January 29, 2007 Author Report Posted January 29, 2007 a lean condition can cause a pop, so change the plugs and do a plug chop. What is you temp and elevation? well heres what i did, i took the plugs out, they were pretty dark and wet, so i put new ones in and took it for a ride and i cut a portion of my finger off on the sheet metal of my race car so i didnt get to take the new ones out. but i do believe that it is running a lil rich. my temp here is about 15 degrees and my elevation is around 700 feet. oh and my air screws are at 2 1/2 as per dynojets reccomendations. HotCarl Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 what did the new plugs look like? did you warm it up and run it wot and then shut it off and look at them? Quote

Banchetta Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 Most likely your way too lean. Does it feel like someone is hitting the kill switch after holding it wide open for a few seconds or is it acting like the choke is on. 280's are lean for 15 degrees outside. You probably need 300's or larger for those temps. Also to rule out your tors. Disconnect the 3-wire plug above you left exhaust the goes to a little black box...You don't need it and has been known to cause issues like that. Quote
