superdutymj Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 OK, I've been in a neverending battle with my banshee for the past month or so. I rebuilt the engine and tranny, and the carbs too. It now runs on race fuel. Here's my problem: the left cylinder isn't firing. I first ran a spark test, no spark. I replaced the sparkplug caps, no spark. I checked the ignition coil, it didn't meet specs, so i replaced it. Still no spark. Has anyone had this problem? I talked to a guy down at the local atv shop and he's never heard of it. Not knowing how the ignition system works entirely, i am wondering if its not in the stator or magnetic pickup somehow. I haven't pulled the stator cover back off, due to the huge pain in the ass of messing with the ac propegs, so i don't know if maybe a magnet got knocked off or something. Please help!!! Quote
BigRed350x Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 I'd guess stator problem or flywheel issues. Probably wiring or stator. I've seen soooo many stators go bad, they are the first thing I try and replace with a spare when I lose spart. 9/10 times its the stator that's gone bad. Quote
xLastShotx Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 I just did the same thing as you and I am having exactly the same problem, I have race fuel in it and the right cylinder pops and smokes but the left does nothing. After a week of frustration I sent it to my local shop, they said it was my wiring harness and my ignition coil. I had them order a new harness and coil. It wont be finished till tomorrow so I don't know if that will fix it. Quote

Watch the pickup when its kicked over and see if your getting spark on every pass of the magnets on the flywheel. The flywheel can get cracked if you hit it with a hammer or drop it. You wont be able to see the crack in the magnet. Edited January 26, 2007 by Snopczynski Quote
