I don't even know where to post this request... I was removing my pipes & just realized my right Toomey pipe is slightly rubbing on the frame. It rubs right by the pipe hanger. The left side has clearance & can run my fingers around the pipe no prob. The right side is right on the frame & I know it's not normal. This prob wasn't there before. Lately been riding trails & practicing lots of jumps. Could this of thrown my motor alignment off.. prob with motor mounts??

Why is that pipe rubbing?

I can't have this & need it fixed so I can ride Glamis next month pres day!

Where's the BHQ tech's, I need help???

:thanks:

you might try some billet hangers maybe the rubber bushing in the stock hangers lets it move over there while riding a bouncing it around.. or throw a washer on there to move the pipe out some..

Yeah, I agree, definitely give your pipe hangers a look. I don't think your motor would be shifting around without causing alot of other problems, if it moved your chain and sprockets would let you know because if they're not lined up you surely wouldn't be riding for very long....

Space out the pipe with washers on the hanger bolt. Had the same problem with my power pro inframe drag pipes and tm billet adjustable hangers.

More than likely this is happening because the jig at toomey got a little out of whack when they made the pipes.

Yeah, there shouldn't be any problems with the motor mounts, but the jumpin' around may have just tweaked something which could be fixed with adjusting the pipe hanger. When I took my stock hangers off to remove my motor I noticed that the rubber between the two piece's of metal that make up the hanger had ripped away from both sides. So I used superglue and hopefully that will hold for a while until I get different hangers..............

mine did that too i just drilled a hole thru it and put a bolt and nut on it.. so its still rubber mounted but wont come apart..

Bansheefreak: Doesn't that rubber between the pipe hanger serve for antivibration?

2001JLShee: I don't need a look on them, I need to fix this problem. Apperance is always good but here I need something functional for me. My pipes are black so billet hangers aren't allowed to look better than pipes.

Mulleet Man: Haaa.. No, that hanger is on correctly.

Bada450r: I'll take your word on that.. John @ Sandtoyz, know's their stuff well.

Everyone, Snopcynski, Bansheefreak, Animalman: Thanks for the washer spacer Idea, I'll go that route for now...

Any one else feel free to drop in with your thoughts, all are appreciated! Thanks.

2001JLShee wasn't saying to get some blingy hangers, he was saying to look to them as the possible cause of the problem. Whether or not that is where the problem lies it's hard to say. This sounds stupid, but did you check your springs done at the head of the pipe? If one of those weakens or breaks, I've seen it cause the pull on the pipe to shift the pipe's position way more than you would expect. Beyond that if you check all the mounting points on the pipes, silencers etc. the only other explanation is that something on the bike changed position, ie. bent. Good luck.

yeah the rubber helps with vibration.. but a billet one wont.. but ima a cheap ass and my rubber broke so i just put a bolt and nut thru it... its still somewhat rubber mounted just has a bolt thru it now.. i'll prolly get billet ones when i get diff pipes..
