ImTired Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 Ive seen many pictures of the 3 wheeled supposedley street legal atv's. im wondering if this is allowed in canada? it looks like an interesting project to ruin my off roadin shee with anyway, i mean, it would always be clean and shiny. stil plenty loud and scary fast, and i could ride it around all summer down the main drags for something to do totally confident that im legal! i hear there licenced as a 3 wheeled motorcycle or some sort of shit and you can have a sidecar so why not? i need everyones opinions and views on this as well as ANY links you can find that have to do with building one of these rear ends, licencing, purchase? or even just plain information on them. peace out Quote
felcon edition banshee Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 im i the first to reply. dang this isint even at the top of the list. anyway 3 wheels is 2 at the back and 1 at the front in wich case i have seen before and dont think that is going to spoil your of road fun but you are probs talking about 1 at the back and 2 ath the front. you shure are going to lose alot of traction and on a 'shee you dont wanna lose that cuse its going to digg holes in the pavment (not litraly. every body takes things litarly :: :: and that sucks) Quote
tithead Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 yeah. the only 3 wheel (2 wheels at front, 1 at rear) quads i have seen road legal were pics sent from europe. they have a screw loose over there. Quote
BigRed350x Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 I wouldn't even want to imagine that thing when you hook up and the front end comes up. Imagine balancing a shee on one tire in the rear during a wheelie... no thanks. Quote
BansheeDan Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 I wouldn't even want to imagine that thing when you hook up and the front end comes up. Imagine balancing a shee on one tire in the rear during a wheelie... no thanks. dan hulls dyno at a&s racing is a one rear wheel setup...... uses a gsxr swingarm modified to fit in a shee frome.... and with the width of a gsxr tire i dont see traction being an issue.....lol but youre right red i dont think id want any part of actually riding it like that Quote
ImTired Posted January 26, 2007 Author Report Posted January 26, 2007 see, i dont think it would be that much of a problem.... its going to have to be extended anyway because of the shock setup a banshee uses.... unless i big time modify the frame (which i may) id LIKE to use a hoosier rear tire thats about 13" wide (major traction, lots of weight in the front end and an easy wheelie with the flat profile of the slick) i am good at drawing things to scale but not soo good at the building aspect. but machine shops are paid to read shit so a well drawn plan of what i want should be easy enough for someone experienced to build. its just the legality issue here up in canada im really concerned about? as a plan towards how im going to go about making such a swingarm, i was just going to use a normal atv wheel & hub (for width) and build the swinger one sided? OR perhaps 2 hubs each with only 2 studs, put 2 nuts on one side of the wheel 2 on the other. so now the question is..... who likes playing with photoshop? make it really low. and as short as thoughtfully possibble IF i modify the frame to move the rear shock. still outlying are the thoughts on legality.... any thoughts people? nunyabinness Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 there was a picture in dirtwheels a while back of a raptor down in cali that was set up like that. had the one wheel in the back to make it street legal. how about using a front hub from a tri-z? take the brake hub off and replace it with a sprocket. also i would suggest extending the rear out for stability.
