Meaning of the word banshee

I seriously doubt that Yamaha named there best two stroke sport quad after a female ghost fairy or a mermaid................

 

The story that I heard was that banshee was originally called the blaster. During the early stages of testing, one of the test riders made the comment that it "screamed like a banshee", and the name stuck.
