dajogejr Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 Ricky Stator will test your coil and CDI for you for free, just pay shipping. IF they are bad, they will tell you. David Keith sent them his ignition and they tested it for him, turned out it was fine and they shipped it back. Before you just buy one, take Ricky up on his offer to test it free of charge!! Quote
NY350twin Posted January 26, 2007 Report Posted January 26, 2007 Well, I am getting the crap shocked out of me on both cyclinders now and it still will not run. It tries to start but dose not and after 10 to 15 kicks it'll just backfire like a cannon. Sometimes when kicking it it'll fire for like one rotation and qiut. But not to where I'd say it ran or even started. - That right there sounds like it flooded out. try WOT while kicking, thats looks like it is the problem or at least part of it. Quote
hondasrslow Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 have you got this running yet? Quote
lunatic Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 [] Pull start it! Might be just flooded. good luck. Quote
moneybags Posted January 29, 2007 Author Report Posted January 29, 2007 No, It is not running yet. I have a new stator on the way. If that is not the problem. I will do a leak down test. Do the 421 cubs use a different base gasket or will a stock gasket work? If I blew a base gasket will it still hold compression on the top end? I let it sit for 2 or so days now and it still will not start. I dont think it is flooded. Quote
2bzy2p Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 your timing is high,i wouldnt go over 7. you probably dont want to use a stock gasket if thats not what was on it,usually will mess your squish up and you dont want your pistons to be to far from your domes or hitting them! Quote

You need to check squish regardless of what base gasket you use, but...they make a big bore gasket in a lot of different thicknesses. Like I've said before, this is not a throw together motor. You've gotta mock it up and check squish, period. You might have to mock it up 2 or 3 times to get the desired squish, I recommend .040 to .048... You can run a boat load of timing on these motors if you're not running a ton of compression...period. You really need to do a leakdown. My cub was way off out of the box...once that was straightened out, it ran like a top all year, no problems... Quote

moneybags Posted January 29, 2007 Author Report Posted January 29, 2007 That is a nice offer. If I had any way to get it to you. I would take you up on that. As for the angel on the domes. I have no clue. Jim at passion racing put the motor together and he is not talking. If I blew a base gasket. would the top end still hold compression? Quote
dajogejr Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 Mine did....had a NASTY base leak on the left side...still held good compression. Quote

My alky bike did this to me right after I rebuilt it, I took a pop bottle with some race gas in it and sprayed alittle in both intakes through the carbs and it fired right up! have not had a problem since. Sorry man I thought I would offer anyways. And yes you will have compression with a leaking base gasket. Quote
moneybags Posted March 1, 2007 Author Report Posted March 1, 2007 Hotcarl came to my house today and figered out what was wrong with my 421 cub. It turned out that my flywheel was the problem. I had no idea that a flywheel could just go bad like that. I give mad props to hotcarl for geting my banshee to fire up. He said that he could hear sompthing moveing inside my flywheel. I my self cant hear anything, But that dont mater. When we put his flywheel on my Banshee the darn thing fired right up. I hope that somebody might come accrost this post and it can help them in the futcher. Quote
