dunemonkey98 Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 Hey, just joined the site today. I bought my banshee in 98 new and beat the hell out of for 5 years and put the usual mods on it. I blew a head gasket at St anthony and it sat till just last week when I went crackhead and decided to restore it from the ground up. Engine and tranny being first I have started with a new transmission and modified shift cam. I have a new hotrod crank as well. With my budget I want to put cub cyliders on it. Now does anybody have the 358 or 392 cheetah? I know the 392 is a big bore if I went with that how much power would that give me over the 358? Thank you for any advice or opinions you can give. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 if your going to spend the money on a cub, get a 421... its a 68mm bore with a 4mil stroker crank...run some 35PWK's Vforce3 reeds and pipes of your choice... i like shearers but there are many others to pick from... either way youll need a longer swinger... also look into a lockup and if you can afford it a duneable over ride.... I will disagree with banshee man...............Since you already have a hot rods crank set up for the stock stroke I would go for the 65mm bore cub myself. I think the ports on the 65mm are Great. Also if you are on a budget the 65mm is another great choice becuase you could mill your stock head and use it. The pistons for the 65mm are also cheaper than the 68mm. If it was me that would be the cub I went with. As far as 4mm cub good luck they are very popular right now and they can be a bit hard to find. Also is the added cost of a head domes and crank worth the 8-10 hp you will gain? Quote
Bansh-eman Posted January 18, 2007 Report Posted January 18, 2007 Also is the added cost of a head domes and crank worth the 8-10 hp you will gain? aboslutly... thats close to 10% more power over stock Quote
dunemonkey98 Posted January 19, 2007 Author Report Posted January 19, 2007 OK, I have decided to go with the 358 (budget purpose)I have a trinity stage 4 head I would like to keep it with the set up. It has 22cc domes. What size domes would be good? I can run race fuel or a 50/50 mix that does not matter. Also what carb set up would be good? Thanks. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted January 19, 2007 Report Posted January 19, 2007 you should be able to run 33 with no problems... you can for sure go smaller domes if your willing to run race gas... id say 20' or 19's and your going to be right there, but the only 100% way to know is a comp test Quote
dunemonkey98 Posted January 19, 2007 Author Report Posted January 19, 2007 I have an aftermarket crank(hot rod). Should I get it trued and welded before the install? Or should I just have it welded? They say the crank is with in .001 of true. If I get this done where is the best place? Quote
