burleybanshee Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 I am putting a 4 mil stroker in the shee. I had asked about a lockout clutch and people suggested a dune overide. What is a dune overide and roughly how expensive is it? If I have the case split to put in the crank, might as well do an overide or something else to tranny to strengthin and make it handle more power. MOds are .20 pistons, will have dune port to match 4mil timing, billet intake 30mm pwk's, t5, vforce. tusk clutch, +4 swinger, Have 20x10x10 extreme 9 paddle. Also what is roll out mean for tire diameter/engine power? I like the 20's for duning, not the best for dragging i know, but a lot more fun sliding and turning Quote
BigRed350x Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 Alright, to answer some of your questions... A dunable override transmission is a specially "cut" transmission that allows you to shift like a normal override transmission, but still lets you use the downshifts as you normally would. Its basically the best of both worlds. You can shift it normally, like you would any other transmission, or you can shift it like an override transmission. It involves changing out your shift drum, adding some springs to the transmission in different places, and depending on who you have do it, they might machine off some of the cogs on your gears. Its not going to "strengthen" your transmission, just let it shift differently. If you want a stronger transmission, look at some straight cut gears for your clutch, and billet gears for the transmission. I'm guessing you won't be anywhere near the limit of the stock transmission so this would be pointless for the most part for you. Billet gears for the trasmission are going to cost you a shit-ton. Roll-out is the distance traveled on the ground in one revolution of the tire. So if you put a mark on one paddle of the tire, started with that paddle on the ground, rolled the bike forward until that same paddle went back on the ground, then measured the distance between those two marks you would get the roll out. Typical measurements for rollout are between 70 and 83" Most typical is 72" If you are going to be doing more drag racing than general duning, I'd go for a 21" or 22" tall rear. - Jared Quote
burleybanshee Posted January 9, 2007 Author Report Posted January 9, 2007 Thanks for all the info BigRed. Glad to hear I don't have to drop a lot more money into the bike for the trans to hold up to the mods. Quote
