Hey all, been having a little bit of trouble with my brother logans banshee..For christmas he bought a set of cylinders from my buddy and he has been having trouble..I know it's not the cylinders as those things are cherry.. The cylinders are vito's 409 cylinders that have a MX/trail port from CPcustoms. The problem we are having is it's not really getting alot of spark and isn't starting..We are getting a good bright blue spark about 1 outta every 4-5 kicks..Logan must have kicked it 25-30 times without it starting..Then coty pulls of the spark plug cap puts it back on and it starts in like 3 kicks..He then rides it around the yard shuts it off and it does the same shit again..We swapped a known working CDI over without any help..My question is is it possible for a stator/coil to go bad while just sitting there, not being rode? I mean he shut the bike off about 3 months ago while it was running fine, and now we put it back together and this is going on..I have checked to make sure it has a good ground and that the spark plug wires weren't torn or anything like that..I'm basically stumped..I have checked alot of the common stuff like the carbs crossover tube, synced the carbs and checked the pick up coil gapth..So has anybody had this problem, or might have a direction they can point me i would really appreciate it..

you might check the wires going to the coil.. there is 2 of them and make sure one isnt pinch or anything.. my bros did this too and we found a bad connection where the wires plug in to the coil .. i guess it would be called the coil its the lil round thing box looking thing the plug wires actually come out of... his would start but run like crap and not rev right and when it didnt start right is when we found the problem..

yeah it would seem to be something with the coil because when the wire was messed with it fired, however i see no crimps, tears or anything like that on it..Even checked the orange and black wire to make sure the connection was good..No corrosion/rust on the male outlets of the coil itself either..Might be a good idea to take my coil over there today and swap it just to see what happens..

Sounds dumb but make sure the wire caps are not loose if you can turn them freely you should replace them. Had this happen to someone

does it still have a key? my 89 would spark every now and then when I disconected the key wires and forgot to hook the two together to bypass it. not sure how it would spark but it would. found the wires and tied them together and have not had a problem since. something to look out for!

Ohm the stator to start, then...pull the flywheel and shake it, make sure the magnets inside aren't broken/busted up.

Moisture from sitting normally effects a stator first, due to it not being sealed.

i did have a banshee once that started fine then all the sudden wouldnt start.. i checked everything took it over to a buddies and he looked everywhere too.. then he found i had a broken wire going to the cdi back by the tail light.. fixed it and works fine after that so might check back there see if a wire is pinched were it might be getting some contact but not enough.. but like you say swap out few things with the others banshee there ..
