okbeast Posted January 3, 2007 Report Posted January 3, 2007 Got a good deal goin on a Pro-design coolhead with 3 sets of domes. Problem is 2 of them are 15cc and the other is 16cc's. Now obviously that's too much for me as I'm lookin for around a 20cc dome. My question is could you have a machine shop turn out some of the dome material to accomplish a 20cc dome? I'm also wondering how they would measure how much to take out since cc's is a volume measurement not "how many thousandths to take out". Quote

Save yourself the trouble and just buy the size you are wanting and sell those other domes to someone who rides at higher altitudes and could really use the smaller size. It would be pretty tough to turn them down and keep the right squish band and clearances and angles in there with the bigger size. For the time and expertise it would take to do it correctly they will probably charge you more than what you could have just bought some new domes for. Plus you would have some nasty feed lines in there, even at like a .006 feed rate, the aluminum would still show feed lines. Plus it would be pretty hard to get the two domes to be exactly the same just having someone turn them down. Personally, I would just spend the $60 and get some 20cc domes and sell those other ones to off-set the price. Quote
