whats up everybody,

just bought a 2000 shee a couple of weeks ago and the throttle cable snapped. i would go start it and it sounded like i was holding the throttle about half way in, but the cable was snapped??? i replaced it today and it is doin the same thing. when first started it, it sounded deep , 2nd time it sounded fine but still sounded like it was accelerating(both times).. also alot of white smoke comin out of right exhaust. last, i shut gas off ,then started it to drain gas and it sounded like the throttle was being held in. i turned the bike off and it kept running, i thought i was goin to blow up.. it finally died down and thats how i left it..... any help ?

thanks

I take it you don't have the TORS system any more. Did you check the carb slides to make sure they weren't stuck open? If they aren't stuck open you are going to want to look for an air leak. You haven't done any mods or anything to the bike, it just started doing this?

Choke stuck maybe? Sounds like the only thing I could think it could be.

i havent done any mods.. kid i bought from did have tors removed and said engine was rebuilt.. other than that nothing that i know of.. i am not mechanically sound , so i didnt know what to look for. tho i did see a little slit in one of the exhaust clamps. could that be a prob?

i bought the bike a few weeks ago. test drove it and road it a few times a my storage facility, a few min. each time. didnt seem right at storage place.. kid ran 42:1. ran that out, now i put a 32:1 mix. like i said i dont know much. i had an 03 in 03 for about 8 mon. till it got stolen then i purchased this,,, so i dont know much at all....... thanks again

Crack in the boot would be your air leak. Don't run it anymore untill you fix it and check over the other one real well. A lean at idle will make the bike rev. If it is bad enough the cylinder will misfire if at all. The fact that it calms down when you pull the choke lever is even more evidence as it richens up the pilot ckt.

sorry, but i dont know all the terms used here..." crack in boot" u mean exhaust clamp? if so, just purchase new one? (obviously) nothing else there tho? lean idle? richens up piolt ckt? if u could explain in any way i could understand better.. and what can i do to fix it... lol, i know its bad, my knowledge..... thanks for u patience....

He's talking about the intake manifold..It's the black rubber piece that connects the carb to the motor..If i was you i would do a bit of troubleshooting on the thing..

First remove the carbs and see if the slides are all the way to the bottom of the carb..The cutaway should be in the back of the carb..There is a little pin in the side of the carb wall that keeps the slide in a fixed position..Sometimes if it wears to much it allows the slide to spin, and with idle screws in it will set the slide at about half open..

2nd is deffinatly check for airleaks..The most common place is going to be on the intake manifold right behind where the crossover tube goes in..The crossover tube is a metal hosing that connects the intake manifolds together..If you have a crack you will need to replace them..

third if you just installed a new cable make sure that you have synced the carbs..basically you can take the air filter out and look into the two openings and make sure the slides are opening/closing at the same time..It's much easier with a friend working the throttle..If they are not opening/closing at the same time use the screws on top of the carb caps to sync the slides where they open/close at the same time..

Best of luck, letha

He is refering to the rubber boot things that connect you carbs to the engine... Check and see if you have any cracks that would allow air to enter, deff. check around your crossover tube (the tube that goes across the two boots). If there is no leaks you more than likely need to richen your pilot jets in your carb, your best bet would to go up one size on them, which would be a 27.5 if the ones you have are stock. Your local shop should have them.

The stock carbs for a banshee are mikuni yes.... If you hapeen to needs pilot jets, ask for pilot jets for a banshee, because they are machine specific.

white smoke? how much white smoke and was it white or blueish? white smoke normally indicates a coolant leak into cylinder. what part of pennsylvania are you located in?
