whats up everybody, finally received my clymer manual and lookin to service my shee... goin to clean my carbs and just wonderin if there is anything i should know or need that the manual doesnt state.. this will be my first time gettin into this, will it be tough for me/ a pain in the ass??? thanks in advance for any help..

well i finally got the bike started .... took it for a quick spin and felt like it wasnt givin full power, may not have been warmed up enough, but the bike backfired a coulpe times. started it up again and another problem has occured... the same one that i took the bike in for in the first place.. but now its the left side of bike... white smoke comin out of left exhaust and i found oil on the wheelie bar... people on here said it could be a leak when it was the right exhaust , but when fixed that was stated on receipt.. just need an idea of what could be causin this problem , so i have a little knowledge before i call the yamaha dealer..... thanks

nah, u replied to my post where i listed my problem.. i changed my throttle cable then had white smoke and oil coming out of right exhaust... they said on receipt, "diagnose/remove both carbs, re-assyble correctly / repair throttle cable.." could they really mess anything up doin just that? thats why i keep mentioning the cold weather... thanks

whats up everybody, just picked bike up from yamaha dealer and now it wont start. started fine before i took it in(first kick). neutral dropped it and it started then it would bogg out.. wouldnt start w/ kick... weather is 32 degree and has been colder over weekend... bike has been done since thurs.... thinkin they might have kept it outside, not sure tho.. they reassembled my carbs and replaced my throttle cable.... any idea what could be wrong? thanks in advance

yea, im definitely interested in learning and will def. stick w/ it.. especially after seein the diff. in money by doin it yourself. just made a mistake by winging it.. o well, like i said live and learn. sure i'll be fine w/ the clymers and the people on this site. alot of knowledge on here. i'm not mechanically sound , but i'm also not an idiot.. so we'll see... thanks for ur help ...

def. not afraid to ask questions.... i m not mechanically sound at all w/ the shee... i posted my problems almost a month ago and got some feedback, but just didnt understand all to well.. in a nutshell the problems were: cable snapped, started the bike without cable it sounded like i was holdin in the throttle.. got new cable off ebay and installed it myself.. started it up and same problem.. but now i had white smoke out right exhaust and oil drippin and little sprayin out of it also... posted this and majority said it was probably a leak somewhere. dont know if i installed the cable wrong or what but i was told it wasnt a leak... they put on new cable and said carbs were messed up.... so who knows... like u said yamaha dealer ripped me off... live and learn i guess....

well i think doin it myself is what got me in trouble..but i do have to invest in a clymers. changed my throttle cable my self, just wung it. so who knows what went wrong. just know it cost me 200$ to get fixed.

no offense taken.... it does have the ratio chart on the bottle of oil, just read something in a thread and it made me question myself.... thanks for ur 2 cents... will take it anytime :beer:

yea, i saw that and followed it. the numbers on the side of bottle measure in ozs... 28 down to 4... 32 oz bottle.. should of 20 oz. which would bring me down to the 12 oz. mark. i know the math is right obviously... just want to know if i read it right..

i'm usin a 32:1 mix... how many ounces of oil to a 5 gallon drum?

yea, i did forget to mention the cool head. i will also look into that ... with all this work done would it be smart to look into diff. a arms, etc... ? -

ok, with the research i've done on here so far and what u told me, i've came to these conclusions. seems to be the t5's, vf3 reeds, mx/trail port , k & n air filter, timin plate +4??, lightened flywheel, water pump impeller??? sound good for what i'm lookin for? am i missing anything? or something i stated i dont need? thanks alot fellas
