Hi guys,

I just bought a used '01 Banshee. I was wondering what I need to check and to replace just because I don't know that much about the history of it. The bike has a few mods: pistons, fatties and an FMF exhaust. I'm new to the whole two-stroke thing, so any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks a bunch!

I'd check the following:

- compression

- all bearings and brakes

- sprockets/chain

- ball joints

- look for oil leaks around gaskets/seals

I can't think of anything else right now. These are the things that I've had problems with before on m '99.

ezest thing to check would be pulling the plugs to see how they ran it (rich or lean)...

check all the ball joints to see if they have any play...

check the a-arms make sure they dont move up and down at the bolts...

see if the chain rubs anything... check under the frame look for bends or any sign of bottming out hard...

make sure the rear plastics lineup... uneven rears is very common in a bike thats been flipped and bent a little...

check the break rotors see if they are flat or have grooves...

listen to any noise the motor makes...

see how dity the filter is, gives you a good idea how well the bike was maintained...

same things as a used car just smaller...

Tranny oil change, I would open carbs up to clean them, at the same time you will learn what size jets are in there and needle adjustment. It wouldn't be a bad idea to check the reeds for breaks or cracks.

Check bown by the front sproket. Look to see if they had to weld any pices of the case back up from a chain poping off or snapping.

Check the back shock by turning the ajuster nob. It should make a click for each number turned.
