yamahakid1 Posted December 25, 2006 Report Posted December 25, 2006 I got a cheap brand new clutch basket for my banshee, but am ready to do a lock up and have read that i shouldnt use a stock clutch basket because it shatters easily? Is this true, also I am wondering if I put this lock up on what kind of stress will it put on other parts of the motor, trans etc, since it stops the slipping of the clutch? I thought that the clutches are supposed to slip alittle bit? Quote
Bansh-eman Posted December 25, 2006 Report Posted December 25, 2006 you dont want to use a stock basket becasue when the lock "opens" it will break the weak metal that the stock baskets are constructed of... you can get a billet basket from many places.... they are much more then a stocker but should last you forever... as far as casuing any problems with other componants.. i havent heard of any problems from a lockup other then haveing 100% of your motors power go to your wheels  to be honest unless your pushing alot of hp your by no way in "need" of a lockup.. yea they are nice to have but a good clutch with hd springs will be more then enough in 90% of the cases.
