A Few Weeks ago , my banshee BLew up, Broke a rod and ruined a cylinder.

Money is tight, So Id like to Build this thing back up on a Budget, Id like to reuse as much of my blown motor/parts as possible.

I know I need a Crank and Rods, Weld My Cases and Get a cylinder or 2.

My Question is, Do I really need a 4mil Stroker Crank Or Can that performance be achieved with Stock Stroke?

What other parts would be needed?

and where can I get the best price on these parts :)

Thanks

Viktor

well if you need a stock crank with rods let me know i have 4 of them. i'm going to keep one just incase the one in the motor is bad. if you need just a right side cylinder let me know i have 2 spares. i have no extra lefts i don't think. as far as what parts you will need i have no idea i'm very new to this whole building banshees thing (i'm working on my first one). i'm trying to sell off the parts i don't need.

Did you take the crank out and look at it? Mabey you just need new connecting rods. While you have your crank out or if you get a new one weld it for extra strengt. A stock crank preforms very well but the 4mil setup can be a bottom to top monster. New cyls its LA Sleeve or Ebay. You have to get the ports matched to the 4mil crank if you get long rods (good idea) you will have to either get reed spacers or you will need your domes cut and Wiesco 795 pistons. If you have stock carbs you can get away with them for a while and you will have a mean bottom end machine but you will probably want to pony up for larger carbs later on for more all around power. There are alot of poeple with good prices on parts and service rite here on this board.

Well you having budget and 4mil in the same paragraph is a little odd. Sounds like you wanna rebuild it but go big?

As for costs it'll depend on what all needs to be replaced. Let us know that and someone can give you a better idea.

My thoughts exactly. Stick with a stock crank, and get it welded. Normally, you can score a good used crank for 75 to 125 bucks.

Have the cylinders measured by a quality machinist. If they can be safely both bored even, up to .080 over...then no worries. If they're damaged beyond repair...there are always cylinders for sale on ebay or here on the forum.

I would never buy a set of "Ported" cylinders off ebay...but stockers I would. I'd try to work with a board member first.

If you are on a budget, do NOT get a 4 mil stroke crank. It requires different pistons or a spacer plate, the cylinder head to be re-machined and the porting will have to be matched. It's more than just a drop in crank. Washburn mean a cylinder spacer...NOT reed spacers...:)

Im almost positive my crank is junk, thats why I even Considered a 4 mil. I need 1 cylinder for Sure, its Cracked all the way up.

With the 4 mil, I Can reuse my Cool head and cut the domes? I need pistons Anyways.

What else would I need?

Haha typing to fast. If I were you I would just buy another set of pistons. You will probably have to get it bored anyway.

Im on a budget too but I own a Banshee. Elka Elites mean buy cheap beer when I feel like drinking. Buy drafts at a bar not bottles. Roll my own smokes for a while, drink water instead of gatorade. No ordering out its bad for you anyway. Staying in with the girl on friday nights instead of going out. Thank God shes cool with that. Alot of cut backs but again I own a Banshee.

Again, Yes you can reuse your coolhead just get a new O Ring set. You will need a 4mil crank should get it trued and welded and 4 or 5mm conecting rods. You need your domes cut 2mm you will also need your cyls bored out anyway and you will need to correct your port timings for the 4mil crank and rods. Wiesco 795 series pistons thats like a grand rite there on the high end. Bigger carbs would help out too but you can run stockers. Or you could just get a used stock crank bore your cyls get new pistons for like 350 375 tops and go. Depends if your willing to sacrifice.

1 of my cylinders is Broken, the sleeve has a crack all the way up. I cant just replace it either causeI have a Pretty wicked Dune Port on the other one and it wont match right?

I figured, I need a

Engine Cases $200

Stock Crank $75?

Stock Cylinders $300?

Engine Cases-Weld $30

4 mil Crank $500?

Ported Cylinders $400?

How Much would pistons Cost for either Setups?

Im Local, I could have picked it all up tonight if it wasnt already Sold!

If you're local to me, you're local to that ebay dealer. that's Moto-Man out of Waterford MI.

Sorry....money talks and SoCallin it really, really wanted it bad. I'm glad he picked it up!

Call Jeff @ FAST racing to see if he'll match that price or beat it. If not...then, hey...you know where you can get it.

Also, get that crank re-welded for insurance. The Wiseco Hot rod cranks have been known to separate, even though they are "welded" from the factory....Jeff can do a very nice job of that too.

Look around, I would NOT buy ported cylinders off Ebay, no telling what you're getting into. However, there has to be a few members here with stock non-ported cylinders that would work with you....

You can get pistons for 159.99 and ALL gaskets, and wrist pin bearings from Magic Racing in Shelby Twp....
