z400boy05 Posted December 2, 2006 Report Posted December 2, 2006 I am new on this board this is my first post. I am been looking around for some weeks now. First of all I am 16 years old I have a 05z400 that has some mods done to it full syestem, jetted, nerfs etc. I still have to pay 3000 doallars on it to pay it off. I have always loved the banshee. How they look sound and the power. The last couply week I have been thinking about maybe selling my z400 so I can pay it and I know I can get more than 3000 for it the bike is very clean and has brand new razors on the back. Now I have never rode a 2 stroke ever. I learned on the z400 yes yes you think I am some spoiled kid that my dad bought it for me wrong! I pay ever sent for that quad every payment and every mod. I love the4 stroke power but I want something different and I can probly get a decent banshee for 3000 or less. Will I be able to adapt to riding a 2 stroke than 4. What do you think I could get out of my z. That is not rust on the frame where my boots rub it is just some primer so it does not rust. here is a pic of it Quote
z400boy05 Posted December 3, 2006 Author Report Posted December 3, 2006 come on anyone have some feedback for me Quote
Hollister_Hitman Posted December 3, 2006 Report Posted December 3, 2006 come on anyone have some feedback for me have you ever rode a banshee? Or even a 2 stroke. Sure you can adapt to it. They are harder to ride than you z400. Banshee aren't know for having good handling or bottom end power, but they hit HARD on top and are really fun to ride. It will smoke your z400 in a straight line but will take some getting used to on the trails and track Quote
scooter Posted December 3, 2006 Report Posted December 3, 2006 i would say the first thing you will notice is the power band. im sure you will love it and the power depending on your mods the banshee is a great machine funnest quad ive ever rode.the other thing is you have to ride a banshee they dont like being putted around . on the new 4 strokes you can keep them in second or 3rd gear and lug them around if you want and still have power when you want it the shee needs to be revvved and you will be shifting alot more. i have no idea what you can get for your quad in your area but it looks in nice shape. nice to see some kids still work hard to pay for there stuff congrats. good luck what ever you decide Quote

z400boy05 Posted December 3, 2006 Author Report Posted December 3, 2006 what would I look for in a banshee that is set up for woods or what are some mods that would help give it some low end and make it wood friendly. thanks for the help keep it coming Quote
The Faster Cracker Posted December 3, 2006 Report Posted December 3, 2006 welcome to the HQ! my buddy has a Z and i have a Shee so here is my 2 cents. if you want a shee go get it and sell your Z. if you are going though a stealership they might be able to do a trade in for you but since oyu owe you might not get much if anything. he was going to trade his in for a dirt bike and i think alls he was going to get was something close to the lower 2ks. you can set up a shee for trails and woods riding. you can adjust to riding a 2 stroke as well. i started off on ATCs and made the switch. it is a diffrence though. you have to keep it in the powerband. as was said there is not alot of power on the bottom but you can get more with an exhaust and even tons more with porting. one plus of having a 2 stroke is doing work on the motor. you dont have to wrooy about valve adjustments, timing if you rip the top end off and such. basically alls you do is take it apart and slap the new stuff together. yes its al lil more involved than that but its pretty easy. especially wiht all the help you can get on here. yes i am biased towards the shee but i think you might like it. the ownly downside is that everything cost twice as much for the most part on the banshee that other bikes since ther is 2 of them. you also have the ablilty to set it up easier for diffrent styles of riding if you want. for instance you siad you want to do trail riding i think, so you cna have it set up for that all the time. then if you want to go to the dunes or something you can swap out your top end and such, i beleive yall correct me if i am worng, along with a few other things to get the most out of it there. give me a pm if you need something. Animalman294 Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 Oh, I was just bein' a smart-ass. The reason I said that is because I remember when I opened threads in the past and posted follow-ups it didn't count as two. I guess maybe since Lee changed the format a while back it may count every one now. Besides, I was just razzin' the Newbie, come on work with me here..................... :yelrotflmao: Quote
samdust Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 hey i used to have a 400ex i know how it is to switch to 2 stroke. i know this a banshee will bite u if u dont know what ur doing. i know from experience.anyway tell u what do u go to tracks im sure a guy will let u ride there banshee. i like two stroke better than 4 by far. another good thing about banshees is yeah u got to get two of everything but, its like a universal quad u can get ANYTHING u can dream of for them. i mean anything. but u will love a banshee. ive never heard anyone talk bad about them cause there the badest quad out. JET 99 Posted December 4, 2006 Report Posted December 4, 2006 if you are thinking of a shee............ first thing the stock suspension sucks. that will probably be the first thing that bites you. it doesnt take much to find the limit of the suspension. you can go from mild to wild with all the aftermarket A-arms and shocks...... that should be your first upgrade........ IMO..... then start with the motor........ if you do suspension first you will be able to handle the speed and power of the motor and all the stuff that is gonna come at you alot faster if you decide to get a shee you will be able to use the power on the trail with a good suspension. best of luck on your decision...................... Quote
redneck Posted December 5, 2006 Report Posted December 5, 2006 Dude look I first started riding a blaster rode that thing for about 3 years that thing taught me how to ride in my eyes, then got me a banshee and loved the power you will look at hills in a different way these things zip right up them with no problems I trail rode mine and loved every trip out. But son got older and had to get rid of her. I miss it if you have a chance to get one do it. It will change the way you ride but you will do it. When we go out and I see a banshee I just stop and watch to see what they are doin. There is nothing like a banshee. I will get another one when my son gets older or quits riding. it will only give you what you ask for, if you lose respect it will put you on your ass. get one and have fun with it. good luck dude  Oh, I was just bein' a smart-ass.
