I'm brand new to this site, just found it today. My main hobby is snowmobiling but dissapointing winter after dissapointing winter has taken it's toll. I was planning on ordering a new sled this spring. But I've been thinking about just keeping my current sled and selling a few other toys (boat and dirt bike) to pay for a new four wheeler. Don't get my wrong, I love my KTM but I'm just getting too damn old, fat, and basically out of shape to ride the damn thing. The last couple years I've had to train for at least a month or so to ride and then I'd go on a couple (2-3) rides in the spring and then I was done for the year cuz I would be back to my bad habbits. So that's basically why I'm looking at wheelers. The Banshee is the only quad I would consider as it's the only high performance 2-stroke left. Much to my dismay, when I looked at the Yamaha site today I learned that the Banshee is now history. I was happy to learn they still made it in 06 though and I spent hours trying to track down a somewhat local dealer that had a 06 holdover in stock. What I finally found was a 2004 model that is supposedly still brand new sitting in an off-site warehouse. According to the sales dude it's "never seen gas". Not sure if I believe that but I'm heading up there on Saturday to take a look. My question is, is this a good deal? $4,699 for a 2004 holdover. The more I think about it, it just seems kinda ok. Problem is I know nothing about ATVs or buying them. I buy sleds all the time and I usually get anywhere from 800 - 1200 off MSRP, 10-20% off accessories for 1 year, and 300-400 worth of mfg incentive. Are quads similar? This would be $1,300 off msrp based on 04 pricing or $1,500 off based on 06 pricing.

Also, I'm located in the Twin City area of Minnesota if anybody knows of any dealers that have 06's in stock.

I would (as im sure many others on this site would also) Buy a junker and put 5k in it and have one nice custom ride built to suit your needs, as far as it being a good deal I think they are still like 6k in socal. Just my 2 cents. Rich

I think you should look around for a used one with some good mods, but it would be cool to have a brand new one. If you have money to mod the new on I would say get the new one. If you just plan on spending 4,500 then buy a good used one.

sounds like a fair deal if its new and has been stored indoors not faded or weather cracked. like the other guys said its nice to buy one and fix it up too ive done that. but i bought a new one in 05 and its nice to have a new one so you know what you got and no kids have beat on it. you end up dumping money in the new one too.new or used its a banshee it never ends lol

I used to say I would always buy a used one with a few mods. But man, let me tell you... to finially have a BRAND NEW banshee, that you know no one else has touched or fuggered up some how is truely a great feeling. Its amazing. Its nice to know everything on the bike is 100% factory and anythng you do to it is your own doing. I love it. It was worth the price of a new one IMO.

Welcome to the site! IMO, I'd rather buy a new one than a used one with mods. I think you could do better on the price. I got my '06 in August and paid $5300 OTD. Good luck!

new is nice. i bought mine new because the banshees around this area used were only 1000 less than a new one, so i figure why not. this way as bigred said i have everything factory fresh and its all mine and no one eleses grubby ugly hands have ever touched my motor.
