has anyone modified thier stock stator plate?

jus wondering if anyone here has modified thier stock stator plate to advnace the timing? or is it possible with the stock plate?

 

 

will advance it four degree's make a noticeable diffrence?

Thats what I just did today. To advantce it +4 you need to rotate the timming plate 4mm clockwise. It is 1mm per 1 degree, so +4 would be 4mm clockwise. I wont know how well it works until my pistons come. I did it with my drill press and drimel tool. It wasnt hard course thats if i did it right.

My best friend does this all the time on racing outboard motors, should have already let him do mine, www.madefi.com but he uses a decree wheel to mark the timing . milo_32000
