LiftdT4R Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 Hello everybody well i got my banshee apart today and seen that there was oil in the crank side of the case and also oil in the water jackets and of course the pistion melted on the exhaust side so if anybody can help i would appreciate it Piston on the left(if your sitting on the bike) side went? If so and you had a lot of oil it's probably the crank seals. Not so so bad since you have the case torn down a lot allready. By the way, I think that's the first time I've ever seen that as a post title. Also, what is your jetting like (mods and altitude needed too). Probably gonna need a bit more to go on. Quote

ssanddemon Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 As far as why it blew up, we need lots more; spare no detail on jetting, altitude, temps and all the mods, etc. If you want to dig into the motor yourself, a Clymer book will guide you every step of the way- it's a really easy motor to tear down. I can almost do em blindfolded and I'm not a builder or anything. It's kinda nice to know you built it yourself. And last but not least, keep in mind that as frustrating as it is, it's nowhere near as bad as blowing up a badass car engine, which I have done- almost $10k up in smoke about 3 seconds into a run. Justintoxicated Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 (edited) What kind of piston is that? What kind of motor do you have? stock ported or stroker? What Crank do you have? Looks like it was rubbing the cylinder wall but was that the cause or effect? Serious Piston slap? Maybe a coolant leak in the head? Was your bike running fine and then bag? Was there any white smoke / coolant coming out of the pipes when you fired it up? Was it hard to start? What does the head look like? But I'm not really the kind of person to ask about these things. Did you forget to mix oil in your gas? That shit does not look good. Edited October 31, 2006 by Justintoxicated Quote
