Bandit Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 Hi guys im new to the banshee's and 2 strokes for that matter. I just got my first one over the weekend. The problem im having, when im riding and go from 0 throttle it really dont do much till i get about 1/2 throttle. once it kicks in it runs awesome. It makes it really hard to ride a trail, but out in the open it runs fine cause im always into the throttle hard. I just figured thats how 2 strokes run. Until i rode my buddies banshee, his makes power thru out the throttle. The mods are FMF gold series fattys,k&n filter, moose boost bottle, and they said it was jetted. So i have been reading these forums and come up with, It could be my pilot jets are too small. But really not for sure. But i did notice i left my gas on and one of floats is out of adjustment and leaked fuel on the floor. So will that cause my hesitation or should i explore deeper then that? and try the pilot jets? Quote

Post the sizes. Quote
Bandit Posted October 18, 2006 Author Report Posted October 18, 2006 well the main is 260...i couldnt read the pilot.im gonna take the other one out to see it. I also noticed the the slides arent moving at the same time. one starts moving up before the other. I try to adjust it but cant get them to move at the same time. Quote
Bandit Posted October 19, 2006 Author Report Posted October 19, 2006 (edited) ok,i fixed the leak, got both slide in sync, and my main jets are 260's and pilot jets are 25's. Do you think i need to go up to a 27.5 on my pilot? or up my main jets? Edited October 19, 2006 by Bandit Quote

Bandit Posted October 19, 2006 Author Report Posted October 19, 2006 i have the air box lid on but no snorkle. Quote
csrmel Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 with the lid on, no snorkel and 1500 evelation a 260 main sounds about right. the rest of the jetting sounds about right too. i realsie each machine is different, but thats got to be ballpark. try runing it with the lid off for a brief test and see it if runs better or worse or the same. are you sure youre pilots are ajusted correctly? if the pilots are too far out you will get a bog off idle that can be severe enough to stall ya out unless you mash the throttle. i had that problem the very first day i bought my banshee, and it was right off the showroom floor. if i gave it 1/4 or 1/3 throttle from a slow roll it would just slow down and die. i had to turn the pilots in some because the factory techs had them misadjusted. just as an expirement try setting the pilots 1/2 turn out. it should be plenty rich like that. work youre way out from there by riding it and turning the pilots out 1/2 turn at a time untill it runs at its best. remember for pilots in=rich out=lean Quote
Bandit Posted October 20, 2006 Author Report Posted October 20, 2006 Im really confused now...the more i back them out,the better it runs. I started at .5 and ended up at1.75 and the hesitation is all most gone. Quote
dajogejr Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 260 with a lid and at that elevation sounds right, give or take one size. If you have to turn the air screws less than .5 turns, then you'll need to bump up the pilot. If it's getting better at 1.75 to 2.0 turns out, 25 is the smallest pilot they make, you'll be just fine. Try 2.0 then 2.25 turns out...get the best setting. Remember...you have to wait a good 20 seconds after you adjust them for the setting to take effect on the pilots. Needle should be fine in the middle clip, if it's boggy, you can try leaning it out one clip (one clip towards the blunt end) and see if that's any better. Carb syncing is critical at lower speeds...so, that was part of the problem there. FMF are a fine choice for trail pipes.... For a little more punch, pickup an adjustable timing plate, they're 35 plus shipping, set it at +4...and think about having the flywheel shaved. These are great trail mods, and give you a very noticeable umph in the lower R's... Quote
