I am finally beginning putting back my motor and am doing everything by the book. New seals, yamabond 4, fresh crank, powerwashed cases. Took pictures as i dissasembled. Now i got the trans back in, the crank all aligned. All the pins and clips are correct. And sealed the cases (also new seals with grease). But i got the crap back on the clutch side and used an air ratchet at 110 psi to put the clutch nut on. And after i got the clutch springs tighted, i go to turn the clutch assembly and its real stiff. And every revolution, it stops light its catching on something. I have checked everything. Could I have overtighted the clutch nut??? I know it says 65 ft pounds and i have no idea what my ratchet puts out. But i tried taking the clutch plates out and the outside basket is stiff turning as well as the inside hub.

Please HELP>>>

This is really aggravating. :banghead:

Not sure if your talking about the inner basket or what, but I just put my clutch back together and I overtightened that big ass nut and the inner basket wouldnt rotate freely like it should. I pulled it back apart and then re-assembled it and didnt tq the nut down as much as before and now it moves how it should.

Also with the pressure plate on and the springs and screws installed I dont believe the basket will move by hand.

Yeah, the inner basket and outer basket. With the plates removed, they should spin freely but they are not. I will have to make a took to hold the clutch so i can use a torque wrench on it.

I guess it's possible, but I don't think you just overtightened it. Something is not right.

You have one thick thrust washer behind your basket and one in front of the basket right?

yes, i have the washers in the correct spaces and everything is exactly as in the manuals diagram and in the pictures i took as i dissasembled it. it just doesnt seem right.
