2001JLShee Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 Hey Guys, I was wondering what kind of horsepower #'s y'all think I could be getting out of my Banshee...here's what I've got done to it so far.....Wiseco Pro-Lites (std.) FMF Gold Series Fatty's, Boyesen power reeds, it's got the single big ass K & N filter, I'm not sure what jets are in it as I've never done jetting myself, one of my friends did it for me and I know he said he had to put 220s in it to work with our elevation. Also, if I were to have my head milled, it's stock, how much should I have it milled down and what difference will a lightened flywheel give me? Can stock stator plates be advanced? Quote

Can stock stator plates be advanced? there are alot of variances to tell you what your hp would be... as far as milling your head what are you trying to get out of it? if your wanting to stick with pump gas dont go more then .020.. the lighten flywheel will let your motor get up to rpms faster but then you dont have the cintrifical force to carry the wieght if you like riding tight trails and turns... great for drag but not so much for trails... and stock plates cant be changed , an adjustable plate has elongated mounting holes and marking to set your plate to differant timings and then securing it with the screws... go to ebay and buy one they are pretty cheap.. 2001JLShee Posted October 13, 2006 Author Report Posted October 13, 2006 I'm trying to gain a little more power without having to dip into my wallet too far. I ride pretty much all trails, with the occasional drag against some yfz 450s and raptors, they always pull away off the start but I blow past them once I hit 5th and 6th gear Quote

dajogejr Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 First off....unless you're at like 5000ft above elevation, get that bike jetted right. With just pipes and a K&N Air Filter at or anywhere near sea level, you should be around 250 or so if you're still using the air box lid, 280 without. Since you trail ride, leave the air box on...but if you don't ride through too much water/mud, either drill some large holes in the airbox...or, get a pro-flow adapter and remove the lid all together.... Right now....again, depending on your elevation, pipes and a K&N FIlter with proper jettins will put you high 30's, low 40s on HP... These bikes only have 33 to 36HP out of the crate bone stock. 2001JLShee Posted October 13, 2006 Author Report Posted October 13, 2006 I live in southwest Iowa and the elevation is like 1000 to 1200 feet above sea level, I have the top of my airbox lid cut open. What jets should I be running for that elevation, I've never jetted carbs before so I'm kinda nervous about doing it....any walkthru's on here? Quote
dajogejr Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 Clymers manual...should have it anyways.... It' really simple, just gotta make sure the carbs get sync'd up properly. Before you change the jetting, warm it up and do the plug chop ...that will tell you how the mains are. I think if you have 220's you'll be lean. I think you'll end up in the 250 to 260 range.... Here's the infamous plug chop: http://www.dfn.com/benkaren/plugchop.html Quote
rocketboy Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 you can definitly mill more than .020 off the head with no problems. jetting should be around 270 to 290 mains . approx 40 rwhp if its jetted right  Quote
