When I turn my fuel petcock to the on position gas starts to leak out of the carb hoses.

I checked my float heights they are both at 21mm.

I blew compressed air into the carb and blew out where the float needle sets in.

Put it all back together and gas still spills out both carb hoses.

Everything apprears to be clean.

I recently had my gas tank off to so I had to disconnect the fuel line, but that should not be the problem.

Need much help again

a project went sideways on me again.

did you try to lightly tap the side of the carbs with like a screwdriver head. sometimes the floats just dont sit right after putting them back together. thats exactly how i fixed my carbs doing the same thing.

Yeah I tried that before I took them apart and I apparently did not clean the carbs properly

because when I turned the petcock to on it did it again.

Has anyone had to keep breaking the down the carb, taking the float pin out keep blowing into the fuel seat hole a couple of times to get it right or should one time do it?

Definately a float issue. check your floats again. Make sure the float needle is not sticking in the sleeve. When you hold the carb upright and let the floats hang, you can push up on the floats and make sure the needle seats before the floats hit the carb. Kind of hard to explain, but hopefully you get the idea.

Clean the needle and seat better....sometimes compressed air doesn't get it all...

A spec of dirt on either of the seats can cause overflow....

It is odd, however that both are overflowing, usually it's one or the other.

You can also take a real fine brillo, steel wool or sandpaper and clean the float slide posts, to make sure they're not sticking...

Lastly....

Get a small bucket or tray and fill it with some old gas. Put the floats in there and make sure they don't sink...

It's been a long time since I've seen a sunken float...but, it happens.

Where at in MI are you?

I'll try and clean them more throughly again. and go from there.

I reside in the Brownstown area. Have you ever been to the Holly practice track?

cool where do you drag it at? On the western side of the state?

Bob' Family Dragway. It's in Clarksville, a few minutes off the freeway. I96, exit 59. (Clarksville)

Just there Saturday...was fun.

Last drag race/test and tune of the year I know of. They're trying to get the Test and Tune/Drag race changed next year to be the same day. Traditionally, it's been T&T Saturday, bracket/knockout race Sunday.

That's fine for local guys...but, some of us drive 2 hours plus to get there. 4 hours Saturday and 4 hours of driving Sunday can get old...especially if you get knocked out first race Sunday.

If he started earlier Saturday, at the very least you could get a few hours of T&T time in...even if you got knocked out first....just seems to make sense.

Hopefully, Bob goes for it...I think his turn out would increase...
