DaveVato Posted October 6, 2006 Author Report Posted October 6, 2006 ' How about a 1 into 2 air filter, instead of two air filters? Anyone know of a kit other then the toomey that will go from 1 air filter into two aftermarket 35mm carbs? Quote
corkforbrains Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 Hey...lemme offer an idea, but keep an eye on me, I'm not the most experienced in this stuff. I ordered some brand new trinity stage IV's for mine and when I mounted them, they were an inch away from fitting on the front clamps. I called Trinity..they told me to loosen the front and back engine mounts and the torsion rods as well. Then take a soft wooden rod (like a broom handle) and gently push the whole motor in the direction it needs to go. Once the mounts lined up, I put in the bolts to attatch the pipes...Then I spent a few minutes balancing the whole motor/frame/sprocket alignment up so everything was reasonable straight and nothing rubbed. Worked great for me. Hope this helps ya as well! ~corks Quote

I also ordered some 20 degree angled K&N's those should be here soon, hopefully those will clear the stingers. Oh, anyone out there with this kit or at least dual 35mm carbs, do you have an extremely stiff thumb throttle?? I need to go check it for bind, any other ideas to losen the throttle? Quote

Haven't had a chance to try out the Stage IV's yet as I'm still gettin the bike back together. I keep buying new goodies and having to re-think my project every couple of weeks..lol I really like the idea that they're made outta stainless, but I haven't had a chance to see if they're worth what they cost me...I guess you could say I'm "cautiously optimistic" lol ~corks Quote
bansheeseat$$ Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 The K&N's are rubbing on the pipes, the right carb is actually hitting the pipe and has to be turned side ways. I am going to go mess with some more tonight, but its not looking good. Sounds like you got your intakes on the wrong side. They have numbers 1 and 2.Try switching the intakes around and that should cure your problem. Quote
dajogejr Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 Hey...Kai...where ya been? Good to see ya... Honestly, if you pickup Shearer inframes, you don't need to worry. Their design is fantastic...they go up and over the back of the carbs, the air filters, etc. It's such a nice design it's almost scary.... I don't know what your price range is, but usually CPIs are MORE than inframe Shearers. Here's a little taste of Jeff's website, just up, and he's got a pretty darned good price on inframe shearers. http://www.farmandsandtoys.com/partdetail.asp?partid=133 Quote

I may have to get some shearers if my angled filters dont work. Also I was thinking about getting a drag port done instead of the Trinity MX port that I have on my cheetah currently. Quote
