Justintoxicated Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 i have used a jack many times and it works great, and you are not making the frame weak by heating it, i use some different length 2x4 and a 2 ton car floor jack it hard to deal with but works, if you look at it from the side i bet you it is bent right at the flat triangle brace on the frame connect tie downs in front of that point remove cdi and jack it up from the flat part of the frame or one side. i use a a tie down ad a telephone pole to pull out the front steering loop. wrap it aroun connect it ratchet it and then use body weight. got to use what you got on hand LOL that plate cracked on both sides of mine! My Friend welede them up but the frame was still tweeked about 1/2 inch... But then I finished it off when I wrecked and bent the steering stem loop in front and pushed the bolts for the bumper croocked.. I guess it could be straightened sorta...if anyone needs a frame that bad and is willing to pick it up let me know. I need to have the vin transfered first. Quote
Yamahammer Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 to each there own ............ everyone knows everything try to help and oh well.. how many body shops use heat to straighten a frame none that i have been to or seen work done at.. go ahead and heat it up it sure will make it easier to bend back and you will be on youre way in no time.. good luck, make sure you are in the back of the pack so IF ANY thing goes wrong know one else will get hurt... Once again to each there own Quote
banshee0044 Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 i wouldnt throw any heat on it unless you really know just how much to use.. my 96 subframe was heated by a previous owner and one time coming off of a tabletop it snapped..i had to use a bungee cord to hold everyhting up while riding to the truck i eventually had it rebuilt and welded back together with a few gussets added ..after the rebuild noone could tell the difference Quote
