bansheeseat$$ Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 Motion Pro makes a leak down tester part #08-0071.Let me warn you it's not cheap.I build enough engines that I spent the money for it,However you can build your own.I've seen threads on how to build one you'll have to do a search though. [email protected] Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 Well gee I'm guessin not everyone has one of these pumps around either...guess we'll see what I find this weekend. Check your boots over well , make sure theres no leaks there. Might be a simple problem. I heard you could spray wd40 on the actual boot to help look for the air leaks ? im not to sure , i just use my eyes very well. i knew i saw a thread on here about the leaker/tester thing , i found it for ya..... heres a link http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...c=65777&hl= let me know how it goes. -chase Quote
okbeast Posted September 8, 2006 Author Report Posted September 8, 2006 Thanks for the links and all the help guys. I'm gonna go over a few simple things 1st like carb adjustments and see if it might be that. If it's not that i'll start checkin seals. I just read this in another thread and thought it might apply to my case...would this work for me to check for air leaks? "You could take the plastic cover off of the flywheel side and then start it up. Get some starting fluid and spray it behind the flywheel why it is running. Listen for an rpm change. You could also spray it around carb boots and base gaskets to check them as well." ****Also, if my tranny side crank seal was leaking wouldn't it be pulling tranny oil in and burning alot off on the right side? I'm just trying to figure out ways to check this w/o having to buy/build a leakdown tester. Sorry to add more to this but is the seal yall're talkin about #8 on this schematic? http://www.bikebandit.com/partsbandit/show...t_id~394457.asp Quote
[email protected] Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 numb 8 is he actual gasket for the clutch cover, the actual seal is behind the water pump gear when you pull the cover off. Let me know if you still cant find the seal . Its basically on the exact opposite side of the flywheel ......... its on the clutch side obviously. Quote
okbeast Posted September 8, 2006 Author Report Posted September 8, 2006 So it'd be #3 on here: http://www.bikebandit.com/partsbandit/show...t_id~400412.asp The oil seal? Quote

bansheeseat$$ Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 # 13 and 11 on which schematic? That doens't take me directly to any photo. Go to riva and click on Original Parts Finder and then go to year then make and then click on crank and piston and there you go. Quote
okbeast Posted September 8, 2006 Author Report Posted September 8, 2006 Alright thanks, so those wouldn't be ones that would be leakin air would they? Quote

okbeast Posted September 8, 2006 Author Report Posted September 8, 2006 Ok, I figured the one on the crankcase side would be leaking oil into the motor and then burning it off, not air? Quote
