bansheefreak Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 check your wires... start under tank then work your way back... my brothers did that and we found a lose wire running to the plug wires... Quote
dirtyernie52 Posted August 22, 2006 Author Report Posted August 22, 2006 checked stator with dvm, and coilw ires checked ok when i went to test the yellow and black single wires the lighting coil i got .5 I know that is out of range but will that cause it not to have any spark? thanks for your help. cRaZyShee8 Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 Im not sure what you meant by ".5". Neither am I familiar with Banshee electrical testing, but electrical testing I am familiar with. What test does this call for? Continuity? Peak volts? But if the test you read says that .5 is out of range, it could cause intermittent or no spark. Quote
dirtyernie52 Posted August 22, 2006 Author Report Posted August 22, 2006 .5 was for ohm. i was wondering if this would cause no spark since it is the lighting coil. thanks Quote
dirtyernie52 Posted August 22, 2006 Author Report Posted August 22, 2006 i have checked everything, and it all seems to be fine. maybe it is the cdi, but since i have a 1995 it wont interchange with anything but a 1996, i will maybe just order a new one. but maybe i will check the whole harness out, where is the most obvious spot to look? thanks Quote
TwinPipeDaddy Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 Don't trust the ohms readings anyway! I've got a box full of bad stators that all ohm good. The lighting coils and the ignition coils are seperate as well. (checking the lighting voltage don't tell you anything about the ignition output. The only way to test an AC ignition system is running under load. The last one I failed ran fine up to half throttle, then got sick when the pipes turned on. Drove me insane figuring it out. Stator ohmed good, but was junk. Faulty stators normally run worse the warmer they get. (will run worse if you can get it to run long enough) Will sound like it's dropping a cylinder but not enough to be able to tell which one. (spark is still there, just very weak) Catch up with me if you still need help nailing it down. Quote
b33rs Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 Mine was doing something like that, turned out to be a burt wire next to pipe. gl Quote
dirtyernie52 Posted August 22, 2006 Author Report Posted August 22, 2006 i will check wires again then i will try my buddies stator. thanks Quote
dirtyernie52 Posted August 22, 2006 Author Report Posted August 22, 2006 b33rs: i never get that lucky, but today i did. burnt black and white wire under pipe. thanks for the help. ernie Quote
