nicktoney Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 alright, i got some trinity stage IV pipes, boyesen super stock pedals and a k&n stock airbox, clamp on deal.... im gonna get my flywheel lightned... i was wondering if this will get back some of that bottom end taht the trinity's seem to have taken away?? my jetting isnt near what it should be, but im still sure ive lost some on the bottom... seems to have more "lag" before the snap and i ride a lot of trails and need it to hit a bit sooner... what would be the investment i need? just the lightened flywheel? or wont that do much? dajogejr Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Fix your jetting before you do anything else. Flywheel will help, as will an adjustable timing plate and a shaved head for more compression. Quote
nicktoney Posted August 1, 2006 Author Report Posted August 1, 2006 what about a noss head? i want to keep running pump gas... i get 94 or 93oct Quote
ellison445 Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Noss heads are great, Get you some 21cc domes and you can run pump gas all day! what about a noss head? i want to keep running pump gas... i get 94 or 93oct Quote
dajogejr Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Doesn't really matter what head you get, getting the jetting sorted and cleaned up may get back some of that bottom end, period. Depending on your elevation, you may be able to get away with a 20cc dome and pump gas... Quote
Animalman294 Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 Yes, I'm at 1000' and dlnoss told me that 20cc domes were fine with the pump gas............ :yelrotflmao: Quote
2bzy2p Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 get reedspacers and put them infront of the reeds, will help give a lil bottom end! Quote
fun_on_the_sand Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 If you really want to incerase your bottom end, and you want to spend some $$ go ahead and port the cylinders, stay with the stock carbs and add increase the compression by adding a cool head or a a noss head... and if you have no limit on your credit card, go for the CDI box it will boost the power from bottom to top Quote
nicktoney Posted August 2, 2006 Author Report Posted August 2, 2006 ok, i just need prices now... good port cost? 20cc dome noss head cost? cdi box cost? im usually riding at 12-1400 ft... Quote
dajogejr Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 ok, i just need prices now... good port cost?250 to 600, depending on what you want 20cc dome noss head cost?Around 250 or so, PM DLNoss, tell him you're an HQ member for a discount cdi box cost?280 or so. Don't waste your money, unless you have time to get to a dyno, and an extra 100 bucks for the cable and CD to custom program a curve for yourself. Get a 35 dollar timing plate, set it at +6 and be happy. im usually riding at 12-1400 ft... Quote
RILS Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 ok, i just need prices now... good port cost? 20cc dome noss head cost? cdi box cost? im usually riding at 12-1400 ft... Im with dojogejr on this fix the jetting first. You shoul be at 280-300 on the main if you still have the airbox and a 27.5 pilot 2 turns out on the airscrew. Then put the coolhead on there it will give you more controll over your lowend then any other mod.I run those same pipes with a drag port and34pjs with all the lowend needed for anykind of riding.I run 18cc domes@ about 185psi on 111octane @900ft.The higher the compression the more the lowend imo.I run 16/41 gears and in the dirt on new tires i pull 3rd gear starts with no bog what so ever.Thats with 18 or 20" tires Im going to pick up a set of 4-snows or prowedges and see how they work starting in 2nd. 13 tooth front sprocket This is the anwser if you just want to spend all your time shifting gears. nicktoney Posted August 2, 2006 Author Report Posted August 2, 2006 well if i can run 20cc domes on pump gas with my elevation, ill pm about the noss head.... Quote
dajogejr Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 Also IMO and experiences I run a stock flywheel, it seems to smooth out the power delivery, but if you like the power to snap hard then lighten it up. Depends on the pipe... On my T5s, it allowed the hit to happen sooner and it felt much more smooth than with the stock flywheel. If your pipe has a midrange and up distinctive hit, I'd go shaved.... Between that and my timing plate, my motor got a lot easier to ride and keep on the pipe when it was a stocker... Quote
nicktoney Posted August 2, 2006 Author Report Posted August 2, 2006 yeh, im pretty sure these trinity IV's hit hard mid/upper range, so id imagine the flywheel gettin lightned would be a good idea too Quote
