Tommilicious Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 (edited) I'm looking into buying this 1995 banshee. Guy said its mostly stock with a new top end in the moter, bored like 10/20 over or something. He said there is a crack in the case abover the front sproket, but it still runs fine and everything. he said it looks like its just a cover or something. Here are the pics. Any suggestions/ideas/input is appreciated. Does this need to be replaced or fixed before riding? What might have happened? thanks Edited July 26, 2006 by Tommilicious Quote
Dmcbanshee Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 This case are broken by the chain, same thing happen to me.But if transmission oil does not leave by the case you are ok.But for further precaution buy a case saver.. Quote
Tommilicious Posted July 26, 2006 Author Report Posted July 26, 2006 Thanks for the input. Heres a pic of the quad. Can anyone tell whats aftermarket on it? Or if something doesn't look right. He said it's a 1995. thanks Tommy Quote
Dmcbanshee Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 Looks like clean for a 95'.They have a set of AC propeg nerf bars, front and rear aftermarket wheels maybe ITP not sure. For the rest looks like stock... Quote
RIPPEN Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 Had that same shit happen to mine here a few dune trips ago... Usually what happens is you break/throw the chain and it wads up in there and breaks the case. Allot of people run a case saver which decreases the chance of it wadding up if the chain comes off.. However mine had a case saver and still broke the case (mine broke even more off than yours) ::.. Anyways its hard to see how far in its broke, but from what I have been told after I broke mine, most said as long as its not leaking you should be fine. Look for any cracks that may continue inward cuz thats the only problem I think you could have in the future... If it is leaking I have heard of guys using apoxy, however I think that kinda depends where the crack is and how bad. IMO if it was to leak I would be looking for new cases which will involve some work, time, and money. In that case I would probably shop around for another bike unless you can get a killer deal on it... RIPPEN Quote
trueraiderfan Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 Looks like a pretty nice quad. But most or quite a few shee's out ther have the broken case where your showing that at, its just from the chain breaking. I have herd it's not that big a deal. Just looks a lot better if it is not broken. That is why you always wanna keep a good chain and sproket set up, and keep em oiled. Quote

Damn DMC, you summed up my whole paragraph in two sentences :yelrotflmao: By the way, judging by that pic your all good... Pretty much any case material thats not needed is gone on mine and it doesn't leak at all :baseball_wibble: RIPPEN Quote
DRI4life Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 um the case doesnt look right.. i see some holeshots and some nerf bars.. looks pretty dam stock.... but beware.. someone obviously beat the shit out of it.. how much does the owner want for it?? oh and you can break the case there just by too much slack.. chain doesnt have to break to do that Quote

Could you explain how you can tell it had the shit beat out of it. I'm new to banshees and dont know what to look for. I will be giving him $1500 for the banshee basically. 1000 Cash plus my old suzuki lt 160 worth about 500. Do those tires need to be replaced right away? i'm not sure how much tread is good on a quad like this. Thanks Tommy Edited July 26, 2006 by Tommilicious Quote
Dmcbanshee Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 1500$ are a good price if this banshee are in good condition hard to tell with a picture...For more info check this topic -> http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=64330 Quote
Tommilicious Posted July 26, 2006 Author Report Posted July 26, 2006 (edited) Thanks for the advice. 1500 seems like a good price. But I want something I can depend on for the rest of the year. Maybe I will redo some things this winter, but I want something to drive for now and not sink money into right away. I dont have a large budget so I can't be too picky either I guess.. Thanks guys, keep any info / advice coming. Heres another pic if it works. Another pic Front Edited July 26, 2006 by Tommilicious Quote
DRI4life Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 na $1500 sounds good for this bike.. i would buy it.. just look for rust and dents, thats how you tell.. as for the motor, you wont know till you own it.. thats how it goes when buying used. maybe its not beat but cases dont break for nothing.. maybe a lack of maintence.. like said above as long as no oil is leaking then your probly ok..
