trail rider Posted July 24, 2006 Report Posted July 24, 2006 Since we're on the 250r power disscussion here, does anyone here know of any good 250r porters? I'd really like to get mine ported when it starts getting close to rebuild time. Im pretty sure I want a good all around porting that pulls strong in mid and top without trying to lose any bottom end. and im probably going to get a esr trx 5 pipe, since that's what eveybody seems to suggest as a good pipe. and maybe get a pro design cool head and run about 150-160 psi. and does a bigger carb really help that much, cause to me it seems like the stock carb does just fine  Quote
Bansheekidd97 Posted July 24, 2006 Author Report Posted July 24, 2006 250R's are fast. It's too bad the first one you rode wasn't feeling good that day. You shouldn't generalize like that. i agree it was fast im not shitting on these bikes at all. im just saying compared to the banshee it feels slower. no this is not the first one ive ridden either i actually owned a atc 250r many many years ago back then i thought it was the fastest thing around. Now those things are INSANE, a well built ATC250R is just crazy fast. I had a mostly stock '86 250R before my Banshee, lotsa fun. I'm still pissed at Honda for pussing out in '89 and halting production though... Quote

Put a 38mm Airstriker on it...REAL good carb Quote
BigCP Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 i have owned two different 250r bikes and i really regret ever selling them. One was more modified than the other but, they both ran great and i believe giving the right situation where i ride mostly trails the 86r i had would spank my banshee. The value of those things are just so high especially around here. i know where a 87 is right now that has sit outside in the weather going on two years and the guy won't budge on a price of 3 grand. I could never get 3 grand for my banshee and i would like to think its in pretty good shape. Quote
speedfreak350 Posted July 26, 2006 Report Posted July 26, 2006 im with you BigCP i miss my 250's they were both trikes though. Had a 250R and a Tecate and that hing hauled ass! I dont care what anyone says your run into the right 250R and youll get smoked! Not as common for it to happen as it is with a shee but there are many out there that just skoot. And the 3 wheeled ones are the ones you have to watch out for with the big weight advantage. I would trade my banshee right now for a 86 250R and cash and not ewven think twice about it. But im a ATc 3 wheeler nut too so thats why. But id have to buy another banshee too. Fixing to pick up a old ATC200X for $100 and it runs. Quote
