Hi, New Member here, seller recommended this site, Have been using the search feature, but can't really find and answer to my set up. Have an 1989 banshee, has a big bore, kn filter with lid with (1/2) inch holes drilled into the top, cool head, and had a tommey exhaust kit. The toomey came with a new jet was installed with the pipes, recently the exhaust was changed over to a stock system keeping eveything the same (jetting etc) It seems to be bogging, seller said I may have to rejet the bike, I want to keep the stock exhaust because of my neighorhood so the toomies are not an option. It has twin mikuni flat slide carbs on it and i tried to adjust the screw on the side to make it (idle) better I guess??? But its all messed up now, it starts but I have to feather the throttle for 20 secounds to keep it running (while choke is down.) Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

you need to rejet the bike, with less air going through the motor you need less fuel... the idle screws are the knobs on top of the carbs. The screws on the side are your air/fuel mixture. You will need to change your main and pilot to smaller ones. Also I know some jet kits come with different needles for toomey exhaust. I'm no expert but i'm pretty positive this should help you out

What is your elevation?Do you know the size of the carbs?Alot of things play a part i your jetting. Is it ported? If they were stk carbs I could proably put you pretty close but if they are like 34mm flatsides Ive never had an experince with them,But you need to know what the jets that are in there now are.Your going to have to drop the pilot down and get it to idle then proably raise the clip on the needle atleast 1 notch and run it.Look at your plugs and adjust the main accordingly. You could start by buying a few jets main and pilot 1-3 sizes smaller than the ones you have and just drop them down one step at the time and see where you end up.I personly would get a hush kit for the t5s and run them maybe get some spark arresters something like that. That would be the simplist thing to do and your going to lose a lot of power by switching back to the stockers a shee without pipes just dont make sense. But if you insist on running the stockers Ill give you a brand new set of stk pipes silancers and carbs wiyh pods and will put some jets in them that will get you close for those toommeys.

Thanks for the responces!Elvation is about 353 feet, It currently has the stock exhaust on it, how can I get a jet kit, any places you guys recommend? Is there a big advantage for me to put on the toomies? Like I said the neigborhood likes to call the cops on loud bikes, there is about 4-5 atv (familes) in the area and we all ride, and maybe I just getting old but comming from a blaster with a full bill's pipe system, the stock banshee exhaust sounds much better to me in my opinion...lol

I checked Toomies site, and they have pics to determine what kit you have, turns out its a T3 kit, am I better of rejetting for the stock kit, seems T5 is the cream of the crop.

Also will this help with the bog?

T-3's are good pipes. Keep them on. Again, stock carbs? Pull them off and tell us what jets your running, mains and pilots. With the lid on the air box with the stock carbs it should be somewhere around 280's on your mains, stock pilots are 25's. Turn your air screws in all the way and then back them out 1 1/2 turns. If you want to keep your stock pipes on, although I cant imagine why, you should be in the neighborhood of about 210-220's mains.
