watkins Posted June 25, 2006 Report Posted June 25, 2006 Trying to mount up my shearers and my stock mounts aint getting it done. The Clutch side pipe actually fits fine and the stock hanger works for it... but the stator side.. the pipe hits the head and doesnt come in far enough.. so there is like almost a 1/2 gap in between the hanger and the pipe... any ideas? Also.. where can I buy some bolts for the silencer mounts? Mine didnt come with any.. just need to know the size. Quote
Big Blue Posted June 25, 2006 Report Posted June 25, 2006 I had to use washers to space the bracket away front the head, leave everything loose until you get everything where you need it and then tighten everything down. Quote
watkins Posted June 25, 2006 Author Report Posted June 25, 2006 So I assume a longer bolt is in order. Do you know what size that bolt is? Quote
cdwood37 Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 it is either an 8mm or a 10mm i forget, get anoe about 40mm long and then a 1/2" spacer and all will be well i had the same problem but i spaced it and it was fine. Quote

Well.. i have some 8mm & 10mm bolts laying around and 8mm is just a hair too big, thats why i was figuring it was 7mm... can anybody chime in with an exact size.. i really want to get these pipes mounted up.... also.... is the silencer bolt the same size? I'm not sure on the size. Try pulling a bolt out of something else on the bike that looks like it will thread into the hole. Once you find the right thread pitch take note of the length. Then go to the local hardware store and pick it up. Even if you dont get the correct length you can cut it down with a hack saw. So error on the long side. Quote
