Just picked up these Ohlin shocks on e-bay for $200. They look a few years old but have to be an upgrade from the stocks I have now. Has anyone had any experience with these and did I make the right choice for the price?

ohlins are a pretty good unit. i dont see any rebound clickers, but i think i spy some compression adjustment. id say you did OK for 200 bucks. plus you can always have them revalved for your specs.

Damn you, I was going to get those! :jesterlaugh:

Ohlins never really made it big with the quad market over here (I think they made more progress in europe). They are good shocks though, and if you send them out to someone to rebuild (hint TCS), you will have some killer shocks.

you can't go wrong either way. Just w/ the Ohlins you won't need to modify anything to fit them in. Just jack the front up a bit, knock out out the 4 bolts for the old shocks, slip the new ones in and bolt um up(just make sure to take the jack back out, don't laugh, seen it done 2x by the same guy). 10 minute job. Got a full set of Ohlins on my R that I got a good deal on from my buddy and used parts guy( Mike aka XCbob) cause I bought the full set and got a set of Axis fronts for my '01 that came off his own personal XC Banshee before he switched to YFZs. the Ohlins have done everything I wanted them to do(granted they need to be redone to carry my fat butt properly), and I liked them enough to pick up a good set of fronts for my '06 SE.

Warrior, do you have tcs's contact info? What's it going to cost to rebuild them?

I was looking at either these or some YFZ shocks. Which shocks are better?

Definately better than YFZ shocks (for one thing they're the right length, they're built for a banshee, and they fit without modification).

A full out rebuild will probably cost a decent bit, but a simple revalve wouldn't be but a couple hundred bucks probably. If you can't afford it now, just ride with them and enjoy.
