banshee350twin Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 Hey everyone i am wandering to tell how the ring's are no good. Or how to tell if there wearing. And i got like little gashes in the top of my piston. That cant be good. Ill have it fixed at a yammy dealer though. thank's Quote
watkins Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 A compression test is a good way to judge how good your top end is doing. Just get a good tester and test both cylinders... they should be within 10% of eachother. Quote
dajogejr Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 A compression tester as stated will tell you the general health of the top end. Gashes in the top of your piston could mean a few things, poor fuel quality, too much timing, piston worn out and starting to come apart. Air leak, lean jetting, dirt in the motor.... Hopefully...you dealer won't just throw a top end on and call it a day, hopefully they find the reason for the gashes... Quote
batoutofshell Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 Why are you taking it to a stealership pull the cylinders and change them yourself Quote
