FireHead Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 Has anyone had experience with putting a Direct Drive Lock Up on a Hinson Pressure Plate? I seem to not be able to get the two to intall together and get the clutch to function. Do these two parts not work together? I pitched my old pressure plate so I can't compare it to the Hinson. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
lowriderb Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 im pretty sure the hinson pressure plate is a direct replacement for the stocker... when you put the plate on is it pressed against the fibers all the way like the stocker did? Quote

Yeah, the plate fits like the stocker did, but I am afraid that it lets the direct drive lock up setup sit down too far and compress the clutch springs too much without letting the plate press on the fibers. (If any of that makes sense?) Quote

Help!!!!!!!!!!!!! The hinson pressure plate is a little thicker, which means the lock up arms will swing a little less. I used one on my 10 mill and didn't have any problems. What kind of clutch are you using? Quote

I have a direct drive lock up, a hinson basket, fibers, springs, pressure plate, and a KD pancake bearing set up. If yours worked, I must be missing something but I can't imagine what it is. Does anyone have any ideas? Quote
FireHead Posted June 8, 2006 Author Report Posted June 8, 2006 I take it no one else has any ideas about this problem? I'll figure it out tomorrow I suppose, as I have ordered new OEM stuff. I'll post my findings. Quote
wesw Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 call direct drive or hinson and see whats going on. im running the same and am planning to get a lock up. so hope you get it figured out. Quote

I just got it figure out. My buddy took his bike apart for me and low behold, the Hison pressure plate is thinner on the face than stock. Therefore, the Direct Drive lock up and Hinson pressure plate do work and play well together. I am going to crank out a billet representation of an OEM plate at work tomorrow and should be good to go. Quote
