loosecannon350 Posted June 3, 2006 Report Posted June 3, 2006 G'day mates. Being new to this forum, Please except my apoliges if this has been talked about before.!! I have an 06 shee with engine mods such as Pro circut pipes, K&N, no lid. I was thinkin of a timing plate for my next mod. I mainly use my shee for Bush riding. MX riding. Will a timing plate help get more power with my mods? Thanks in Advance Regards Dave Quote
Eazy Posted June 3, 2006 Report Posted June 3, 2006 From what i've been reading, yes. It will be more noticeable on the low end, more than anything..Some guys say 3-5hp gain..(but i dont know) Ricky Stator has a real nice product and he even sells the flywheel puller that you'll need in the installation. strokersquid Posted June 3, 2006 Report Posted June 3, 2006 would you need to go to race gas if you do this ? would it need higher octane ? Quote
ssanddemon Posted June 3, 2006 Report Posted June 3, 2006 You can modify the stock plate as well: elongate the mounting holes to allow the plate to rotate 1/4 inch or so counterclockwise. -That's the only difference between Ricky S's and a stock plate, his holes are elongated and have the degree marks stamped in. I believe it is about 2* per 1/16" in rotaion. Do a search here, you will find more detailed instructions. The typical advance is 4 degrees and usually requires no additional fuel octane to prevent pinging. I am running 7 * advance with about 155 psi compression and it still doesn't ping on 91 octane- but a half and half race gas mix at about 100 octane makes the bike scream! Overall, a 4* advance is a must-do for anyone. Quote
gipperz Posted June 3, 2006 Report Posted June 3, 2006 Get the advance plate, it has degrees on it and you'll be able to set how much advance you want, I went +4. While your at it send your flywheel out to be lightened. I sent mine to boonman on here and he did a great job and fast turn around, I also believe rocketboy does this mod. Lightened flywheel lets your engine rev up quicker. Just my .02 Quote
loosecannon350 Posted June 4, 2006 Author Report Posted June 4, 2006 Thanks for your replies. I will do the mod!! More info on how far to more the stock plate would be great! I have access to the right machines to do the job Regards Dave Quote
