LeadBoots Posted June 2, 2006 Report Posted June 2, 2006 (edited) well i was riding for about an 1 hour and a half today with no problems. it was running great. i was doing some hill climbs and running her on long roads. but when i hit the trails it boiled over on me. so i waiting for about 15 mins for it to cool down . then i tried to start it and nothin. so my brother towed me out and i tried bump starting it . it started up and ran great for 5 mins then quit but it didnt boil over. then i couldnt get it started. what would be the problem its got good water level . the overflow bottle is not on. would that do it or is it the water pump? dawarriorman Posted June 2, 2006 Report Posted June 2, 2006 If theres a problem with your engine, especially anything to do with overheating, don't keep trying to get it running. All that does is make whatever problem there is worse, and the repairs more expensive. Check your compression (see if you toasted a piston), then check the water pump. 2 most obvious causes there. LeadBoots Posted June 3, 2006 Author Report Posted June 3, 2006 its got good compression and the water pump is still moveing like it does. but there was some build up of junk that has grinded circles in the waterpump plate. would that have done it. what else would cause a bike that it runnig prefect bog out and die. spark coil? When we say water pump, we mean has the stock plastic impeller melted? If its clogged up, then run a mix of 50/50 water and vinegar through the coolant system (yes I mean run the motor with it in there) to clean it out. Then make sure there's no air leak somewhere leaning out one of the cylinders. Next would be a bad head gasket (cylinder compression will blow coolant out with a bad gasket). Quote
