michigan_soler Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 now i have bigger problems, went on top of the FIRST hill of the day, stopped and when i was ready to take off again it was all fucked up... (hold in clutch and it would idle, but if i release clutch, even in neutral, it would stall out like i was in 5th gear BUT, the tires wouldn't even budge...) so now im guessing i broke a gear or SOMETHING in the tranny. now i need to do a total tear down and rebuild of the tranny. i just need some info on torque specs of bolts (good manual?) and good sites to get parts off it and i will be needing... like gaskets, and stuff like that. i finally got it home (tow strap), with it in neutral and me compressing the clutch, it would still act as if it was in gear so i BELEIVE i either broke a gear or welded something together. stopped it and checked the oil, it was fine... as i was screwing back on the dip stick, the JB weld pushed out, so i need THAT lil cap too... so yeah. im kinda in a bad way... oh yeah, the oil level was good... alil on the hot side but i don't think it was beyond the heat it should have been (not even steaming or smelling burnt) the worst part, i only beat the crap out of this thing 3 times... stupid previous owners. fast500#12 Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 buy your self a clymers manual. they are on ebay for like 17 bucks. Quote
Justintoxicated Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 you might have welded the bearing on the end of the rod. Were you holding in the clutch for a long time? Quote
michigan_soler Posted June 1, 2006 Author Report Posted June 1, 2006 i got to the top of the hill, put it into neutral. then waited about a minute... once it was all screwed up, THEN i had to hold in the clutch so i could roll correctly to get out of the dunes and to my cottage. Quote
RATBIKE0130 Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 How much oil is in the transmission? If there isn't much you likely welded a couple gears onto the shafts. Quote
Justintoxicated Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 (edited) i finally got it home (tow strap), with it in neutral and me compressing the clutch, it would still act as if it was in gear It would be hard to roll back home if it was In Gear. so i BELEIVE i either broke a gear or welded something together. stopped it and checked the oil, it was fine... Oil was full? as i was screwing back on the dip stick, the JB weld pushed out, so i need THAT lil cap too... [/quote ] The JB Weld Pushed out (I hate when that happens) so yeah. im kinda in a bad way... oh yeah, the oil level was good... alil on the hot side but i don't think it was beyond the heat it should have been (not even steaming or smelling burnt) How did you verify this? Do you typicaly empty out the oil on your hand or something? the worst part, i only beat the crap out of this thing 3 times... stupid previous owners. Do you Usualy beat the hell out of your Banshee? michigan_soler Posted June 1, 2006 Author Report Posted June 1, 2006 it would pop into gear and shake really hard when i was getting it towed home. i tend to feel the temp of my oil to try and get a general idea of the temp... cuz i don't have a temp gauge on it (thinkin of installin one depending on if i can get one cheap) if it wasn't full then it was EXTREMELY close... it wasn't dripping at all and i had JUST changed it about 20 min before i left on friday from my house to my cottage. seeings as i have only drivin it out of 3rd gear 3 different weekends, then i guess i typicly beat the crap out of it... cuz yeah, i just got the thing and gotta see what its got, even though i saw people in the dunes doin alot worse to their banshees then i did (all chromed out so probably modded already though) Quote
michigan_soler Posted June 3, 2006 Author Report Posted June 3, 2006 so yeah... BUMP! where can i get parts cheap... or a full engine/tranny. ANYONE? Quote
michigan_soler Posted August 3, 2006 Author Report Posted August 3, 2006 well, i figured it all out. that plug/pin that was missing really just got pushed inside the case, and the other side came out. im guessing that someone tried rebuilding it and didn't put the e-clips back in, and didn't put any plugs on. so now i gotta redo all that. i was at the local shop and they didn't have a manual but can someone give me an idea of what all needs to be taken apart to get those e-clips back in... also, my clutch was fucked, the back plate was completely shattered. (clip is 17, and the plug is 18) sorry for the side of the pic. Quote
RATBIKE0130 Posted August 4, 2006 Report Posted August 4, 2006 The clip only keeps the shaft from pushing the plug out. The lock washer that holds the shift shaft adjustment screw holds that shaft in place. Quote
