well my headlights on my 02 has never worked since i bought it a year ago but the other day we went on a ride and i had the switch on and hit a hill and boom there they were on but when i came to a stop they shut off, i have checked all connectors and wires on the stator and they all look in tank someone please help!!!!!!!!

Probably just some corrosion inside the connectors or in the actual headlight. Check your clymers for a wiring diagram - there's really not much to the lighting circuit.

Im guessing a stripped wire which is shorting out the lights.

 

Check the cables comming from your stator going to the rear end of your bike.

i had a cable rubbing against the frame that eventually stripped and shorted out my lights.

i guess that means you got it fixed.

trailer lights can be a real bitch to track down a problem also. 9 times out of 10 it's a bad ground somewhere. or a worn thru wire casing that's making contact somewhere. dielectric grease definitely helps contact points or connections from corroding though. :clap:
