JokinTom24 Posted May 4, 2006 Report Posted May 4, 2006 Ok so i got a new ASV shift lever and a clutch cable for my banshee. Put the cable on... and just took the slack out of the cable, but now im almost out of thread on the shift lever. Im sure the cable will strech in use so now i dont know how i will take out any more slack. So my question is is their any other way to tighten a cable other than the threads on the shift lever perch??? thanks guys! Quote
steveodo Posted May 5, 2006 Report Posted May 5, 2006 Yes you can turn the screw at the center of the clutch hub, If you have a clymer's it explains it real good Quote
MILO Posted May 5, 2006 Report Posted May 5, 2006 (edited) make sure the clutch is adjusted properly at the clutch itself first. if it is and you are still out of adjustment at the lever, then i'd suggest getting a different perch and lever or cable, rather than change the adjustment at the clutch to compensate. that would probably just either burn up your clutch, or it won't engage/disengage right to begin with. JokinTom24 Posted May 5, 2006 Author Report Posted May 5, 2006 is the Clutch Hub on the outside??? or do i need to take the cover off to get to it?? I bought a cable for a banshee i dont understand how it can be longer then the worn out stock one. Quote
thegroup Posted May 5, 2006 Report Posted May 5, 2006 u have to take the clutch cover off to adjust the clutch itself. the screw he is talking aobut here: Quote
msprouse Posted May 6, 2006 Report Posted May 6, 2006 I would adjust the screw, First drain all your case oil at the drain plug then with the radiator cap on tight remove the hose going in to your case, keeping the cap on reduces mess, when you get the hose off and secured over a drain pan or bottle remove the radiator cap releasing the rest of the fluid. Then remove your footpeg kick starter ect. so you have a clear shot at your side cover, after you get the side cover removed you will see a screw in the middle of your pressure plate with a lock nut on it, loosen the lock nut (normal threads) and turn the screw in to take slack out of your clutch or out to increse slack when you get the adjustment your lookin for tighten down the lock nut and reassemble, oh and be sure to check all your gakets and o rings for wear and tear, for sure the little o ring on the post that connects to the water hose on the back side of the side case. it sucks getting it all back together and realizing that you have a leak. good luck Quote
