FOXBANSHEE30 Posted May 4, 2006 Report Posted May 4, 2006 i want to bump up the power on my 'Shee but i wanna know the best mod to do thats not too radical. I was lookin at maybe a stroker? YHow hard is that to do? Im not limited to bolt on, but i want to upgrade the cylinders, somehow. The motor has been ported and all that good stuff. What to do next? Thanks. Quote
Posted May 4, 2006 Report Posted May 4, 2006 (edited) if you dont do any of the work yourself a stroker will cost probly like 400+ depending on what stealship or whoever does the work ?! MY personal oppinon , a stroker is a good way to gain a few cc's with a drop in mod ( 4mils ). However if you are really wanting to gain some serious power check into the cubs ,or cheeetahs ....... maybe even sell your cylnders you have now to help offset the price of the cubs. ive ridden a 14mill cheetah on 74mm pistons and let me tell you....... WEAR DIAPERS ! because you will leave some stains in ure pants CHECK INTO aftermarket cylnders: Stroker cranks CLUTCH Upgrades ( if u plan to make alota power ) the stock clutch isnt beefy enough in my eyes to handle serious power. FOXBANSHEE30 Posted May 5, 2006 Author Report Posted May 5, 2006 no i dont want anything like that. but back to the 4mils could i put them in myself and what kinda money are we talkin about? Thanks. Quote
Hilarious Posted May 5, 2006 Report Posted May 5, 2006 What kind of porting do you have? You may need to get rid of that 2 into 1 setup and put 2 carburetors back on there. Im waiting on a 4mil crank right now. Depending on who you get it from, it will probably cost around 500+. That's with a weld and a balance. And another 200 or so for a cool head with domes cut for the added stroke, that is if you dont go with the spacer plate. Really what it all boils down to is.... HOW DEEP IS YOUR WALLET! Quote
ellison445 Posted May 5, 2006 Report Posted May 5, 2006 I concur, I got my 4mil for $350 What kind of porting do you have? Posted May 5, 2006 Report Posted May 5, 2006 (edited) HOW DEEP IS YOUR WALLET! 512132 yeap , how fast do you want to go , how fast do you want to get there , and how much do you want to spend . 4mil stroker 400sih cool head with proper domes 250 ? new pistons while ure at it and hone/bore ? 150 pistons + boring add all the gaskets 30 sell two into 1 carb ( +250) and get twin 34mm 300 Proper boots for the bigger carbs 50-100 lets say all this you bolt up and then after 5 hours or riding on it hard , there goes the clutch !!!!!!! MEGA POWER = EXPENSIVE CLUCH the list goes on buddy ... defintly do youre researched before you start buying everything... seems like i was in your shoes a few months ago before i went all out and got me my 10mill , whatever you do make sure you go with the choice you will be happy with , and not what the pocket book will allow =-D ....... i prefer to call my banshee the Debt Maker trust me it adds up before you realize it you wish you just started building another bike lol...... DIRTMAN350 Posted May 5, 2006 Report Posted May 5, 2006 PM Jeff aka FAST Racing or Passionre and talk with them about what you want to do and they will point ya in the right direction. Both are good guys to deal with. They want just take your money and leave ya hanging like the big companies will. Quote
thegroup Posted May 5, 2006 Report Posted May 5, 2006 4 mil cranks r easy to do if u have exp. in tearing engines apart. it takes me about 5 hr to tear a motor down and have it back together and running again. look at hotrodsproducts.com on crank ideas or go to albaaction.com and look at their 400 stroker crank kit i put that kit in a buddy's 03 and the 2-1 carb and HOLY SHIT! 4th gear wheelies on pavement with a little tug Quote
Wallrat Posted May 5, 2006 Report Posted May 5, 2006 Yup...2 into 1 carb works fine on a stroker. I'm pulling up my front end in 4th on sand - with the stock swinger that is. Had to get a +2 to keep it down a lil more. The +4 crank isn't all that expensive, but you'll need porting to get any real gains from it. I ran mine w/out porting and it was pretty unimpressive.
