waycott_259 Posted April 26, 2006 Report Posted April 26, 2006 alright heres the deal.. theres a 1999 banshee for sale a few hours away from me.. the buddy whos selling it is letting it go for 1500 canadian.. well the only problem is that he said he blew a piston all to shit. i guess a part of it basically broke off.. so im figuring it mighta done damage to the bottom end but he says that he found the peices of piston in the exhaust pipe so he doesnt think any of it went down in the bottom.. what would you guys think could be damaged besides the piston and rings? need to deiced if im gettin it in a few hours Quote
odaen Posted April 26, 2006 Report Posted April 26, 2006 even if the crank is trashed, it's not really that big of a deal. used stockers are about 100 to 150 on fleabay. while it's out, send it out to get welded and trued. then, just put new gaskets and seals in...... some motors are like onions though, layer upon layer of crap Quote
waycott_259 Posted April 26, 2006 Author Report Posted April 26, 2006 and i guess it has brand new tranny and clutch so even if crank and stuf is bad, it really isn a big deal? would u recomed boring it out since it was blown? Quote
waycott_259 Posted April 26, 2006 Author Report Posted April 26, 2006 ok i guess both pistons broke? what would casue that to happen? Quote
Tim C Posted April 26, 2006 Report Posted April 26, 2006 There could be case damage, crank could be junked, cylinders could be ruined.....but maybe all it needs is pistons and cylinders bored. The case would have to be opened to clean out the crank because if the pistons broke it would go down into the crank. If you don't buy it let me know I possibly would - I live in New Brunswick to. I have an extra crank and spare cylinders Quote
[email protected] Posted April 26, 2006 Report Posted April 26, 2006 theres no real way to tell without opening it up , i mean sure u can do a compression test and see if it shifts through all gears but theres only one way to know forsure .. offer him less and go get it still worth $ if u part out Quote
waycott_259 Posted April 26, 2006 Author Report Posted April 26, 2006 awsome im buying it forsure just called him Quote
waycott_259 Posted April 27, 2006 Author Report Posted April 27, 2006 so what do u think would of caused them both to break? Quote
bigwill Posted April 28, 2006 Report Posted April 28, 2006 Forget how it broke,it could be so many things, bad bore job, didnt lube up everything inside before rebuild ect..ect...Tear it apart-check crank, new bearing, port and polish, bore next size anyway rebuild and haul ass Quote
