I know a guy that used to have a banshee that was pretty decked out. His best mod was when he took a crank from an old yamaha RD 400 (road bike), and threw it in his banshee. The thing could pull the front tires up in 6th gear after doing this. The only downfall was that he had to buy a $700 ignition system for it, since the stock flywheel wouldn't fit anymore, and the ignition system in the old RD400 was junk (it was points)

My question is this: is there any aftermarket cranks that you can buy that would even compare to the long stroke of the RD 400 crank? And if so, can you use your stock ignition system with them? And do they make a monstrous difference power-wise, like with the RD 400 crank?

Thanks guys.

That means that the stroke of the rd400 crank is 8mm longer than that of the stock banshee(54mm). This means that the piston will move 4mm lower and 4mm higher with the rd crank over the stock one.

to do this mod write you would have to get your cases trenched (clearenced for the crank throw) and you would have to buy custom pistons along with having your stock head clearanced for the added stroke or you can buy stroker domes for an aftermarket head

there are a buch of companys out there making a 7mill crank or a 10 mill crank that will use all of your stock ignition parts, and a 10 mill would be even faster than that 8 mill your buddy had
