Yamaha Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 Is it possible to polish my black toomey header to a nice shiny chrome like finish? I polished the T5 logo on them about a week ago and it looks great I was just wondering if I could do the entire thing. Also is there any type of paint that will stay on the header without burning off in 2 seconds? Thanks for your replies Quote
kb01shee Posted April 24, 2006 Report Posted April 24, 2006 You could get it that jet hot coating that they use on automotive headers. It keeps the heat in and looks pretty decent. I am not to sure how much it cost. I think that it is also pretty durable. The problem with polishing is that it takes more upkeep to keep it looking good. There is nothing that is going to shine as good as a set of chrome pipes. Quote
Wallrat Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 Anywhere you've polished is going to rust if not treated. For paint, I've had really good luck with Engine Enamel High Heat. LINK Quote
ClimbAnyHill Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 with used a light disc sander on the cordless drill, dropped some high heat primer and high heat gloss black. light coats at a time and the came out pretty good. don't know how it would hold thru some Glamis sandune blasting. See the difference on one completed side. Quote
