dalegoldston Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 Man F**K. Last weekend I thought I had froze a piston. But OH NO. The skirt broke off the piston on the left cylinder and screwed up the crank shaft bearings. Not really to expensive to fix just a lot more work. Just gotta be done before Memorial Day at Little Sahara. The hard part will be keeping the 4 year old from runnin off with that important bolt or something. Quote
MILO Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 yeah, the little guys like to 'help' don't they i saw that my piston skirt was cracked before it came apart, so shee's apart for a rebuild now too. too bad you didn't catch yours sooner. i haven't done it yet, but it doesn't seem like it would be too bad of a job splitting the cases. blueshee03 Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 spitting the cases is easy.they normally come apart fairly easy.the worst part is removing motor from frame and putting it back in the frame.just be sure to clean them good where they mate together and apply some yama bond or equivelant.also don't try to pry them apart with a screw driver and damage the mating surfaces. dalegoldston Posted April 24, 2006 Author Report Posted April 24, 2006 (edited) Ya I have done it before it did seem that keeping everything clean was the deal. I need to find a place to send the jugs to get them re bored and pistons. Last time I sent them to mission yamaha in cali but I would like to stay more local if possiable. I just talked to Jim at Passion and I will send the crank and cylinders to him. Edited April 24, 2006 by dalegoldston Quote
