Wallrat Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 Mine leaked when I first installed it. Just a little pisser and the leak stopped after the first ride. You could always try a dab of RTV. The needle does vibrate like hell, but its very predictable so its easy to figure out your temp. I.E. it vibrates between 160-170 so your temp is 165. Quote

Wallrat Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 Far as I can tell. When I first installed mine several years ago I double checked it w/ a heat gun aimed at the head. I think it was around 4 or 5 degrees difference. The bouncing needle isn't really an issue, you just look at the middle point of where its bouncing. And really, the only important temps are 90-ish for warm up, and 200 for shutting her down. Inbetween there I don't need to have the EXACT temp. I picked up a digital gauge a couple months ago, but haven't bothered to swap it out yet. Quote
macgillivary Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 the way i did mine was i got an automotice gauge from walmart, went to a plumbing shop and got a 3/4inch iron T, think that was the size, the gauge from walmart came with pieces to screw into the T, did thatwrapped a bit of electrical tape around it to prevent leaks , sliced the line coming from the head strapped each end onto the T, clamped er down and never had any leaking problems Quote
Polish Posted March 27, 2006 Author Report Posted March 27, 2006 I bought the type of T from an auto parts store................it is a plastic fuel T........could plastic melt at 200 degrees...........that was my concern Quote
Wicked98Shee Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 that depends on if it's a heater hose T. almost all the newer vehicles have the plastic crap in the heater system, so i would think its all good cause these new cars run hot enough a shee would be fried i would think Quote
J-Madd Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 My ESR gauge leaked on my YFZ. I unscrewed the gauge and put more teflon tape on it. Fixed it right up. Quote
