Blaster x Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 Hi Im new to this site I am building a banshee from ground up. Its really hard to get my hands on a motor. Is it hard to put together a motor from scratch? like starting with engine caes like this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/YAMAHA-BANS...sspagenameZWDVW please let me konw if its easy Thanks Tony Quote
lastlegwarrior Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 well, i wouldn't consider that the easiest way to build a shee engine, unless you plan on dropping some serious cash into one with all new parts or custom ones. but if you insist on buildin your shee this way then more power to you, on the upside you'll gain tons of knowledge about the internal workings of your motor and you can find parts almost anywhere. Personally i would try to find one that needed a rebuild or has something wrong with it. just my 2. welcome to the HQ, and good luck. Quote
sheefreak Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 I agree. Unless you are going all aftermarket, it will cost way too much. Quote
racer Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 hit up the for sale section on here, or check the auction watchs. there is always some good shee-it in there. Quote
Blaster x Posted March 21, 2006 Author Report Posted March 21, 2006 I have most of my my parts coming. But the problem is i need to get a engine...should i make one(like buy the parts)? or buy a blown one? Quote
sheefreak Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 Once again, are you going to build a slightly modified motor, or are you stroking it out, going w/straight cuts, hinson basket, override tranny, pancake bearing, cub cyls, etc.... If you are just building your typical slightly modified shee(pipes, air filter, maybe advanced timing, reeds) then I would look for something complete. By time you piece together every nut, bolt, seal, gasket, gear, etc. you will have spent way less money buying one complete to start with. Quote
Wallrat Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 Agreed. People part out banshees simply because all the parts sold individually are worth more than the whole bike. The only way its worth doing piece by piece is if almost every part is going to be aftermarket. Quote

Blaster x Posted March 21, 2006 Author Report Posted March 21, 2006 i have 2 whole motors, and 1 set of cases, where do you want to start? 490472 The whole motor...do you have any pictures? send to or IM me at GTRboy1999 Thanks everyone Quote
NYUK Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 no, no pics. they look just like banshee motors. when i do take pics they go on e bay. 1 running, 1 needs a top end. Quote
. Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 to basically build an engine from scratch you are going to get reamed up the ass. There are a ton of little parts that you dont think about in the bottom end. I mean, its not a shitload, but for the most part its oem type washers and bolts and all that good stuff. Buy one of the ones off nyuk, he's fair with his pricing, you'll be getting what he says it is, and all in all you'll have a good transaction. If you wanna do a top end, maybe some porting in there etc etc, go with the one with the blown top end. If you wanna just drop one in.....go with the one thats running.....its up to you Quote
NYUK Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 the one just dropped in compression it`s not blown up. Quote
Wallrat Posted March 22, 2006 Report Posted March 22, 2006 Yeah Nyuk is very trustworthy around here. He's done tons of business through the HQ and I've never heard a single complaint. Quote
