momo20 Posted March 6, 2006 Report Posted March 6, 2006 i have a 1987 banshee...and the cdi box is on its last leg...i know this cause you have to beat the shit out of it for it to start...when i rebuilt the shee..i put a 97 wiring harness on there....so my question will the newer cdi box work on my shee....thanks Quote
cdcoxwell Posted March 6, 2006 Report Posted March 6, 2006 If the male/female ends are the same, it should. But, I dout that they are because that would make life to easy for us. I believe all cdi's will work, you just have to splice the ends and swap the male/female ends. I have an '87 as well. I bought a 2000 dimmer/on-off switch. Cut the end off of the '87 dimmer and cut the end off the 2000 and taped the '87 connector on the 2000 and shee works like a charm. Maybe someone who has spliced a cdi box can tell you 100% for a fact, it can be done. I heard that you could. Quote
momo20 Posted March 6, 2006 Author Report Posted March 6, 2006 the main reason i had to get a new wiring harness is beacuse the owner before me had hacked it all up....(repo bike for 800 bucks) so i bought a 97 harness of ebay for like 50 bucks..and it was almost new....and now the 87 cdi box is going out..and i did the same thing with a dimmer switch......so i dont see why the newer cdi boxs would not work...any of the gods of here care to chime in...i will see is wese is online...
